What to do for Chemistry =(

Okay well I thought I did really well on AP test for Chemistry but as it turns out I got a 3 =/. It's not that I didnt know the material as I get straight A's in the class and have won several chemistry competions at my school and I'm fairly certain it was the FRQs that messed me up. Anyways I'm looking to major in Chem E at SUNY UB and was wondering if it is going to be bad retaking Chemistry because UB doesnt accept 3s. I really wanted to do research and was planning to get out of 2 semesters of Chem at UB but I guess that isn't appening. Is Gen Chem easier than AP Chem? Also is it possible to not take Chem again(itll be my third year of chem cuz I've had honors chem and AP chem in high school)? Third, if not, what is "elective credit" and how can I use it?

Take the Chemistry CLEP after some reviewing of chemistry. That will get you college credit for Chem 1 and 2.

I am actually also going to be taking the Chemistry CLEP Test in about a Month. CLEP Tests are really helpful ways to get credit for classes really quickly.

Just make sure the college you’re wanting to go to accepts CLEP. Some do not.

yeah they don’t accept CLEP, oh well I guess retaking Chem won’t be so bad because there would have been a whole year between taking Organic Chem and taking AP Chem so I guess refreshing myself on alot of stuff is good. BUt what can I do with the 3?

Why do you need to do something with the 3?

no I mean what can I use the “elective credit” for? Because I’m having to retake the class that I would have placed out of with the AP Credit, can I not use the elective credit? Or can it go towards a gen ed elective requirement or something?

^ I don’t think so, because that AP credit should be use to SUBSTITUTE the appropriate one.
Similarity, if you have a 4 on AP US History, how could you use that to substitute your chemistry? The context is different.
I will be so shocked that if SUNY-UB actually do substitute a liberal art with your AP Chem, and it’s a 3.

As far as chemistry, the first course is general chemistry 1.
But speak to the school about it.

Read this comment that I wrote:

damm, well there goes $75 spent on an AP test, o well at least the class and teacher taught me alot

^ Well I can’t promise lol. Check with the school for sure!
 I mean the logic will not make sense if everyone could be place out of a free elective like that. But the school has a final says!

Checking the website, I now understand what you mean by “elective credit.” It will just be one less course (a free elective, not a required course) you have to take to graduate.

^ Right, same here.
So what is this?

What does APC0 means?

Same advice, check with the school.

What do you mean? It’s just a placeholder to give you credit on your transcript.

EDIT: This is what I assume, not knowing where you got “APC0**” from.

^ from the website.

Ahh I see. I didn’t click through the links on the page I posted. Yes, it looks like APC0** is the “course code” for the AP credit.
