What to do for Freshman to Sophmore Summer?

I am currently 9th grader freshman, and I'm getting a bit intimidated by all these summer programs. I just want to fill up my upcoming summer with some meaningful/productive programs.

I thought February would be pretty early for looking for a program that starts in the summer, but it seems I am a bit late, is that right?

I'm looking for something to do in the summer but most of the things I see on the forum are for juniors. Is there anything for a Freshman going on Sophomore?

Is CTY the only option for freshman?

Here is a list of science and math related camps.

I went to CTY and adored it. Lots of smart kids though it is both strict and pretty pricey. I’ve heard great things about Davidson THINK as well.

are there any at camps for freshman that are pristigious? like the ones you have to apply to(competitive)? or are those types only for upperclassmen?

Most are for upperclassmen. I hear that THINK is pretty competitive and requires an application.

If you’re into journalism, Northwestern’s Cherubs program is competitive as well.

If there is nothing, you don’t have to take any summer programs. Just volunteer/community service/find something like that to do in your area and it will look great in a college app too.

For science stuff, ask a professor if you could help his/her research.
