what to do for summer before college?

so we've got roughly two and a half months left until new student week, and i was wondering what's a good way to spend your summer before college.

i've been told it's important to make good memories with your friends and family and just relax, but having gone to a competitive high school, i feel like i'm wasting too much time and being incredibly unproductive. i mean it's great not having much to do, but it's hard to just relax and chill with friends everyday without feeling somewhat guilty.

my parents are telling me to study for classes i'll be taking this year or for my placement exams for chem and french. i'm an econ major, so should i be studying econ or reviewing stats? is it really necessary to study for these placement exams, i have absolutely no intentions of taking more chem than i'm required to, so i don't mind starting from 101.

what'd you guys do before college? study or chillax?

what IS the best way to spend this summer??

volunteer work for the less fortunate...teach financial literacy to other teens

study or chillax? neither. I suggest getting a job involving unskilled labor. Builds character and gives perspective.

^^thats what im doing. im a fedex package handler. everyday i see middle aged men come in and realize that they load trucks for a living. a harsh reminder of how lucky I am to go to Northwestern and get a great education. i also work at McD's on the weekends and work out 5 days a week. o yea and im taking calc II at local CC. damn im busy...have about as much free time as during the year. o well, im getting chiseled doing all this box lifting and workin out :)

^Wow. Your job seems a lot more interesting than mine. I get to greet customers and fold clothes at a&f..woot woot. and i get to occasionally take off my shirt and show off my chiseled abs... kidding.
