So lots of people from my town are planning huge graduation parties, road trips, whatever. What did you do with your friends (besides work...hah) your last summer before college?

i want to know to.

seriously? I did absolutely NOTHING - well, other than seeing friends before they moved, watched movies, read books that I wanted to read, family trips, and then late in the summer dorm shopping, etc.
What is there to do? It's ridiculous to try to prepare for classes you don't know anything about.

Take the time to do things that you want to do. It might be the only time (unless you take time off down the road) to have a real summer.

^that's pretty much what I'm planning. I started a job a couple months ago, so I don't have to work the whole summer. I'm pretty much planning on not doing much at all. going to the beach, reading, doing theatre.... driving around everywhere while I still have a car...
I'm actually really looking forward to it.

I can tell you what I'm going to do, which is backpack through Europe with some friends. Friends who could quite possibly not be my friends when we get back. ahaha.

In order: went to orientation, went on a two-week road trip with my best friend and my mom, did absolutely nothing for a couple weeks besides chillin out and sleeping late, then went to Orlando and visited some relatives and went to Disney with my mom and my cousin. After that, dorm shopping and then it's move-in time! It goes by super duper fast.

After graduation and initial parties, took summer courses at my college... also went to orientation and hung out lots with HS friends. ahh, the good old days before internships and work

I'm spending the whole summer RELAXING. No job, no prepping for college (other than what is necessary). I know too many people who began planning for college in 6th grade, and when they finally got into college, they began planning for graduate school. Enjoy your last summer as a "kid".

I did absolutely nothing besides read books, work out, and relax. I might have liked to do something, but I was way too preoccupied with college (particularly paying for college) the entire year before.

I worked, went to orientation, re-did my room and just generally relaxed. My priorities were different from my friends, so I didn't do anything with them.

Yeah, its kind of weird that this will be my last summer as a kid. I'll probably just work, workout, hangout, etc.

worked, clubbed.

Work, you will need money.

I spent the whole summer in a drunken haze. Then I went to China for 3 weeks, and after I got off the plane I was in a drunken haze there too. It was a great summer.

I'll probably work (getting a job at the skatepark would rock; too bad it's so far away I wouldn't make a profit between minimum wage and gas), and my friends and I want to roadtrip to California. I don't think any of our bazillion year-old station wagons could handle that, though, so we might have to settle for something on the right coast.

Hung out with friends before we went our separate ways, worked to make some money, 2-day orientation, one week stay with a friend in Tennessee, my graduation trip w/ my dad was 6 baseball games in 10 days at the Midwest parks (KC, STL, 2 Chicago, Milwaukee, Twin Cities), and throughout the summer me and my dad made it to 37 more baseball games in 19 different parks. Yeah...we love baseball...if (WHEN!!!) i graduate in 4 years (i'm on track for 3.5) he'll take me on the 30 stadiums in 30 days trip.

I went to Europe, backpacked a bit, played my violin through Italy, Austria, and Germany, did that for 2-3 weeks

Then I went to China, spent most of my time in Hong Kong being an intern, went to Japan and Korea for a week total to just spend some time.

I went backpacking on the Appalachian Trail with one of my best friends from HS... it was a great opportunity to really have a "goodbye", reflect on HS life, and get away from parents and our hometown.

internship.

I'm thinking about this. Might spend a week camping. WILL go see my brother in California. But I want to spend time with my parents and family. Not too worried about spending time with my boyfriend - as he is going to school in the same town as me.

It's hard to get a job in my town - lots of poor and under-educated people, so jobs that normally go to teenagers are going to adults. (No, I don't think we should have to compete with our friends' parents for jobs at Burger King. The whole thing sucks. I don't blame them - it sucks for them too.)

Any suggestions?
