What to do when a college visits your high school

Title says it all. A college I want to go to is coming to visit, and I want to know what goes on during the session, what I should do, and yaddah yaddah yaddah. Could anyone help or give me tips? Thanks in advance!

Stop and stare… I think I’m moving…

…

Bump

A bunch of kids will sit in a room, like a classroom or even an auditorium (if they predict that a lot of students will come to see the college). They have a recruiter or admissions counselor from the college come to talk to the group, usually the person who recruits for that area or reads applications from that area or school. Normally they’ll come for about 30 minutes, but it could last over an hour if a lot of students show up.

They’ll give you an information packet about the college and a card to fill out for the college. Fill out the card so that the college knows that you’ve seen their information session and have demonstrated interest. Colleges will use your personal information (address, email) that you give in order to send you more materials.

The admissions person will basically talk about their college for that time period and answer any questions. If you seriously want to go to that college, you should stick around afterwards and personally talk to the admissions person. Get his or her contact information and follow up with an email to show demonstrated interest.
