What to focus on the rest of the summmer

Hello fellow ccers i just needed some of your opinions. in the beginning of the summer i had planned out the many things i was going to read.

Things to do:
-Study SAT: Direct Hits , Barron's 2400 and both the BB and its online course.
-Study for the A+ certification
-Self Study AP's APEH and APES
-Read all the material for my Decathlon , which the teacher gave me because our school received next years material earlier.
-Read Tale of Two Cities and Catch 22.
-And for AP Bio read the first few chapters for a summer assignment.

Now mid way through summer I haven't read as much as i first planned ,and surprisingly studying for the SAT and improving is taking longer than expected , a lot longer , and I don't believe I can finish it so I was wondering what I should focus on during the summer and what I should focus on during the next school year.

Oh and because I want to take my SAT in Oct so I'm going to study for the SAT the remainder of the Summer.

My opinion:

Read Tale of Two Cities and Catch-22 (It won’t be a long term thing. You’ll be done in 5 days at the most. These are great books to have for your SAT essay.)

Obviously you’ll have to do the AP Bio assignment over the summer. (If you’re using Campbell’s it’ll be a breeze. The first few chapters are pretty much review, and I found them to be really interesting)

Study SAT: Direct Hits (Definitely). Do the BB and if you’ve bought the online course, go ahead. But most people don’t really like it…

Are you really self-studying for APEH and APES? Or is it just to prep for your school course? If you’re self-studying, I would recommend an hour or so per day over the summer (It’ll save you work in the school year). I usually self-studying during the morning. I wake up at 8:30 (stupid internal clock) and I just sprawl on my living room floor (carpet) and read/take notes. It’s great because it doesn’t feel like studying since I don’t have an artificial light source during the morning. And this routine leaves less room for procrastination.

What’s the A+ certification?

How much material did your teacher give you for your Decathlon? I would probably go through it steadily. I self-study a language, and I just do it for 30-45 minutes before I go to bed every night. So I would suggest just reading the material for 20 minutes each night. I guess that would give you an adequate head start. I have no idea though because I don’t know how much material you have to go through for your Decathlon…

It really depends. I always wake up around 9 so I have tons of time during the morning to study. If you’re the type of person who wakes up at 12 then my schedule might not work for you. But I would recommend: Wake up, self study APs for 1.5-2 hours combined. Eat lunch. Study for SAT. At night time read over your Decathlon.

And just squeeze the two books, bio, and your certification studying in the free time slots you’ll have.

haha. Wow. I sound obsessive. Sorry for doing all this :stuck_out_tongue: But that’s how I am…haha. I can’t get anything done unless I plan a “schedule” for myself. Otherwise I end up procrastinating and not doing anything.

^ Ok so I probably can’t provide any insight…on any of this…but I know exactly what you mean about schedules - I have to completely plan everything out or nothing will ever get done! And I love how you have it planned so they’ll spend their entire day studying. I WISH I was that dedicated.

Thanks for the feedback.

Basically an exam that, if you pass, shows you’re decent with computer repairs, etc. It’s usually taken by adults who want a career in IT, but some HSers take it.

Oh. Thanks for the info :]

But that totally messed up my schedule :frowning: haha
No one was going to follow it anyways though. Heck, even I don’t follow my own schedules :]

Basically, I think that you should be able to fit everything into the rest of your summer, just in varying degrees.
