Studying over Summer

For those of you studying over summer, how do you do it?

-How much time do you dedicate each day to study?
-How Do you study, from a textbook? Computer?
-What are you studying?
-Any Advice?

Okay lets seee... I got the list of books we are reading for IB Literature next year it consists of like 11 or 12 books and I usually just take a week max. to read one. I go over stuff in chemistry that I learned last year on random days just to get it in my head. Andddd I do SAT prep every night. But I only do this becuase I suck at reading and chemistry is my worst subject and I'm just scared crapless about the SAT's so you don't really have to do anything, I would just take a week to review last year's stuff like a week or two before school starts.

To answer your question:

2-3 hours a day, except on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays (these days are to learn italian, german, and latin)

Review books, except for Chemsitry since I want to do well on USNCO as well.

In order : USH, Spanish, Stat, English Lang, Physics (SAT and AP C), Chem, Env. Sci, USAMO (art of problem solving vol. 1 and 2). This will give me a week before school starts.

Don't study all day. Do other stuff. I either run or lift weights every day, and I have an internship in the city from 8 to 6. I still finished 4 of my classes so far.

[bloodandiron]coughoveracheivercough ... good job though.

bloodandiron, where do u intern at?

I planned to study over the summer but naturally, I procrastinated and now summer is almost over and I haven't opened a book.

1) Art of Problem Solving 1 - book. Four - Six Hours a day. -> Want AIME or possibly USAMO.
2) Algebra II textbook. 1 hour review.

Thats pretty much it lol :D

Don't procrastinate. Once you start, its really easy. Just try to stick to the same habits each day.

-How much time do you dedicate each day to study?
Uhh depends on the day. Can range from 2hrs - 10hrs (yes I'm one of those weirdos that can sit down and study for 10 hrs STRAIGHT)

-How Do you study, from a textbook? Computer?
Borrowed textbooks from school. Review books from bookstores. I'm a highlighter person. And I do practice questions and take notes.

-What are you studying?
Chem bio physics stats sats calc

-Any Advice?
Dont sit in front of the computer like me. I'm procrastinating now. Also, go running. Running keeps me healthy and my concentration span somehow expands everytime I study after 45min of running.. And get a good amount of sleep before you study. And listen to some good music from time to time and sing along really loud.. gets you pumped up. Go to a quiet library (ones without annoying crying children) :)

Well, of course planned to. I was going to read like the whole AP European History textbook so I could feel smart. Well I started reading the assigned chapter. It was soo boring that I didn't even finish it... still!!

I've been running lately also, it has actually help me feel kinda more motivated and able to concentrate.

-How much time do you dedicate each day to study?
~2-3 hours every day, another 1 or 2 hours at night (since I need a dark sky for this)

-How Do you study, from a textbook? Computer?
Both. I bought some books and read articles and advice from online websites and get feedback and help.

-What are you studying?
astronomy and astrophotography

-Any Advice?
When stargazing with your telescope (if you're interested), make sure you PUT on some moisquito repellent. I got half a dozen of bites the first night out. Now everytime I go out, I make sure I have enough of it on my hands and feet, even though I have to always wear long sleeve and jeans to minimize my chance of getting bitten. (and no, I haven't yet died from the heat...)

sat 24/7
Blue book and online course + PR course
Practice all the time

redwood, at the new york blood center

bloodandiron how far are you in AoPS Volumes?
The problems at the end are a bit tough; I've had the book for 6 days now and I'm on chapter 6 - Quadratics. Do you think I'm doing OK? For some of the problems (most :D), especially end of chapter 4, I needed the answer key to help me get started on the problem, but I can usually finish it. Is this normal?

i have SAT prep with a private tutor but ive had to temporarily postpone it until the middle of August so i could do my AP english hw
i spend 2-3 hours reading and when i was done with all the reading i do 2-3 hours working on the essays
aaaand i have to (im doing it minutely) take a peek at what were going to do in my AP classes

just work at small intervals a day
like maybe 15-30 minutes at first but once u get comfortable u can extend ur hours
dont necessarily force urself unless its like near school time or somethin
dont make it a chore just go with the flow

I do Spanish everyday/ Latin

I get so depressed reading this. What kind of high school student would study in the summer? Life is short, don't waste it with your nose buried in a book.

Um you should study or work or do something that will make you more competitive.

I'm reading Zumdahl's Chemistry over the summer.

Also I am doing Art of Problem Solving vol. 2.

TomK that's what the Romans thought about life. It is pessimistic though. I tend to think Life is full of oportunities, you just need the right moment to seize them.

The Romans got high on lead.
