Hi I am a student of class 9 and I am interested in studying at Stanford University. I have got exceptionally good grades till now and I am also wishing to become the national topper in class 10(ICSE). I am also a cricket player and I have been the captain of my school team. Please tell me more regarding admission in Stanford. Although I have researched a lot on the internet but I want someone who has went through this stage to advise me.

The first question will be: Do you need financial aid? If so note that Stanford is need aware for internationals. So this means that the international students with financial aid that are accepted are top candidates. If you need financial aid, this will put you into a pool which is extremely competitive.
Also being a good cricket player won’t have a huge advantage as compared to other sports. There are a bunch of sports that Stanford recruits from, and unfortunately Cricket is not one of them. So your cricket expertise will be viewed as a nice extracurricular, but won’t give you the admissions boost like a recruited athlete would.
I would suggest that it is way too early to focus on any one college (especially a hyper-competitive one like Stanford). You have no HS GPA and no standardized testing.
Stanford had under a 5% acceptance rate for applicants – and one can assume it is even lower for international applicants. The chances of gaining admission to Stanford are very small for any unhooked applicant.
Do your best academically, get involved in things you care about, and see how things look when you are a senior.
