What to give my college success adviser?

Hello! I have an amazing college success adviser that helped me tremendously through my college application journey. I want to give him a gift so that he will remember me for a long time. What should I give him?

Thanking people is always nice. Write a letter to him and tell him how much you appreciate his efforts.

I received some chocolate covered strawberries from a student (I’m a college consultant), and I was floored! They were so yummy! I also received some lovely hand-written cards that were very touching.

Maybe a nice “long-time” gift would be something from your future college? That would be fun for me.

If you were a wonderful student, he will remember you…even without any gift. I would write a nice thank you note. As a former teacher…I still have a few of those that were special. No gift needed.

I agree a note is enough. But also a follow up, in Dec or May. People can like to know you’re happy, once there and underway.

@thumper1 , I thought you were not a good person based on the comments you made on my previous question. Thank you for the kindness and I’m so sorry for the wrong perception I had of you. I know I am one of his best student, but it’s really hard for me to not give something to show my appreciation. I always thank him whenever I write him an email, or whenever we talk over the phone. But I don’t think that is enough.

Some people are just plain terrific at noticing details of other people’s lives, and can come up with the right gift. Most of the rest of us aren’t. Does he have a collection of trinkets from the colleges his advisees get into? Do you know what kind of snacks are his favorites? Then those could give you an idea of where to go with this.

A handwritten thank you note now, followed by a postcard with a photo of your college at the end of the first semester or first year, and by an invitation to your college graduation four years from now, would be a great set of gifts. So will be sending him more great students like yourself to advise.

@happymomof1 , Thank you so much! That was extremely helpful!
