I know its early , but my daughter is starting high school next year , we are trying to be proactive and gather info " specific to Brown " - in general we know that you have to be top 5% in class, strong GPA and SAT scores , volunteer effort, well rounded education, but if you can share SPECIFIC THINGS that can be done in the next four years , will really appreciate , so far her interest is in medical and health sciences. Will doing online Brown courses or courses in campus help ( though we live in texas)
TIA
This is advice for MIT. You can swap in Brown and it still holds true:
By a poster in a recent thread from someone who was obsessed with Stanford:
I’m a student who just got accepted to Brown a few days ago (and will probably attend) - In my opinion, after reflecting on my applications and seeing what’s been happening to my friends, the best thing is to let her true passions show through the things she does - perhaps the worst thing you could do is to confine her to a specific “Brown” or “Ivy” mold. They want to see people who are independent and have potential to love what they do at a high level. Just let her be herself! If that self doesn’t get into Brown, then that’s not where she’s supposed to be. It all seems to work out in the end.
@feibax I completely agree with @potemkin42 my S will start at Brown next week. He was not shooting for Ivy or other prestigious school but visited and fell in love. His passion for his major was evident in his essays. I believe that is what got him in.
