Hi everybody,
I am going to be a freshman at a NE boarding school this upcoming school year. I am coming from California. I know from revisit days that most people wear sweaters and dresses or pants and blouses/skirts. My schools rule is that you cannot show any strap and your skirt or dress cannot be shorter than your fingertip.
Any advice or suggestions on what to buy and where to buy would be greatly appreciated as I am pretty clueless. Thank you
My advice would be to rock your own style, whatever that is - be yourself. If you are unsure of that, Just buy some basic stuff and don’t buy too much. Once you get on campus, you can always add to your wardrobe if you want to emulate what you are seeing.
Which school will you be attending? It varies. On revisit day they typically stress the importance of perfect dresscode. If you dont wear it you must change.
Don’t forget to bring boots for the winter NE weather! Bean boots are very popular, fur-lined or regular. Sperry boat shoes and boots are popular for footwear too.
You’ll want to have a couple of warm things so that you’re not totally unprepared for the first cold snap, but I like @doschicos advice. Take clothes you have, but postpone purchases until you see what you need (yes, those will include warm boots!) and what you want your cool weather style to be. Your CA style will be fine when you first arrive and it’s still warm. Polo shirts are always a good bet.
