So I've already had one audition to which i wore nice dressy-ish clothing.

But for Syracuse it says

"Acting applicants should come prepared for a full-body movement warm-up. Please bring suitable, loose-fitting warm-up clothing and comfortable footwear."

That is very different from all the other auditions for me. I have capri sweat pants and a v-neck tee that i would wear a tank top under with sneakers, but i'm afraid that i shouldn't wear something so casual. I know it says to, but will other people just ignore it? making me seem like i just rolled out of bed to get there?

I probably shouldnt be so concerned but i am.

you always want to look nice, thats just the business that we are in... but I would never sacrifice mobility and freedom for a "good look". I wore sweatpants and a black t shirt to my auditions and got into most of my schools.

the most important thing is that you wear something that makes you comfortable in your own skin.

plus don't worry about what other people are wearing, at drama school auditions there's always gonna be someone wearing something crazier than you are :)

My daughter already had her Syracuse audition and the warm up was just some vocalizing. We brought jazz pants/tshirt just in case but it was just 5 minutes in the room with the acting professor. Wear your nice clothes!

My D auditioned for both musical theater and acting programs last year, and -- wow! -- what a difference in the way kids dressed in general between the two branches of theater.

In general, the musical theater kids (especially the girls) looked very nice, wearing dresses or skirts and nice blouses or sweaters, nice heels or cute flats, with the guys wearing dress pants and nice shirts with collars.

In general, the kids auditioning for acting dressed like they were going to class at their high school. We saw jeans (many of them, torn and worn), graphic tee shirts, sweat shirts and dirty sneakers or scuffed boots. My D, who wore a pair of black dress pants, a nice blouse and high heels to her acting auditions, said she felt like Elle Woods on her first day at Harvard Law at most of the acting auditions.

Yes, kids get into schools wearing jeans, leggings, tee shirts and so on. But in my unsolicited opinion, an audition is a job interview. It shows respect for the auditors when you try to look nice; coming in your everyday high school clothing tells me (and I am an adult like most of the auditors!) that you didn't care enough to carefully prepare.

Follow directions...try yoga pants and perhaps a simple collered shirt. I agree that you should be preparing for a job interview, but part of that is being prepared by following the direction given you by the school.
