Syracuse acting audition

Has anyone ever auditioned for Syracuse's Acting program and can tell me about their audition experience? What did you wear for movement/what were other people wearing? How much time did you have to change/did you have any time? What kind of questions, adjustments, and improvisations did you have to do in the audition room? And what was the movement portion like? I'm auditioning at NY Unifieds if that has any affect on the answer.

Are you auditioning for straight acting? I don’t think there was a movement portion last year. I know that my son got an adjustment on his Glass Menagerie monologue last year where the auditor invited him to use her as a focal point (which everyone tells you not to, so don’t do it unless they ask), which was, apparently, pretty intense. Other than that, I can’t remember anything special about it, except it was all contemporary. If you PM me, I can put you in touch with my son, who could probably tell you more. (He got WL at Syracuse, but ended up at CCPA/Roosevelt.)

From the Acting auditions page on Syracuse website: “Acting applicants should come prepared for a full-body movement warm-up. Please bring suitable, loose-fitting warm-up clothing and comfortable footwear.”
Maybe the movement portion is new this year? The “loose-fitting” part is tripping me up because I’d been planning something with yoga pants or leggings for my other movement auditions. Do they mean like sweatpants? I thought those were always a “no.”

I think yoga pants are fine. I think when they say “loose fitting” they mean “not tight jeans, tight twill pants, tight skirt”.

My D auditioned there in November. She said the warm up was about 15 minutes. All the kids just wore what they were wearing for their auditions. She wore a blouse and dress pants and she said if you were wearing a dress or skirt you would want dance shorts underneath. There was bending over that would have been awkward without dance shorts.

Thank you so much!!! That’s super helpful to know. I’m wearing an a-line dress that comes down to my knees, so if I bend over I don’t think I’ll have a problem, but I’ll definitely wear shorts underneath anyway. And I’ll problem bring a movement outfit with me just in case anything is different.
