What type of bike should I get for UF campus? I was becoming interested in trying to cycle more long distances, but I also want a bike that will be functional for getting me around UF campus. I’ve visited but I’m not sure what would be best. Mountain bike? Road bike? Hybrid? UF is rather flat for the most part so I would assume gears are not that big of an issue maybe 3 gears. I’m not particularly interested in a “fixie”, and my budget is up to around $600 if I decided I wanted to get an expensive bike. What do most students at UF seem to ride and what works best? Thanks for any replies!
At any uni. you want a bike that doesn’t look stealable. Think more like $50. An expensive bike is way more than $600 though. Find a used anytype bike to use around campus and save up for a real road bike for actual riding.
@PonziPlays
I did not think UF looked flat, but I guess it is a matter of where you are from. UF has a bike rental program and they supplied geared bikes.
When my D visited she looked at a lot of the bikes in the bike racks and came to three conclusions:
- Do not get a bike with a nice seat that can be easily removed
- Do not get a bike with the quick disconnect front wheels
- Get a bike with gears
That is just her opinion, I would be happy to others. @Sybylla advise sounds solid.
