Hi, I am a Junior considering applying for NC State, and I'm wondering what type of grade you need to have. I've taken 20 courses so far, and so far, my grades have been 17 A's and 3 B' s..... This worries me because 2 of my B' s have been made this year (In physics and calculus Junior year) out of 4 I took last semester. I hear Junior year is your most important year, and they expect an upward trend in grades, which worries me.. Will this hurt my chances too bad??? I will be aiming for all A's the rest of my high school career. Idk what career I'll be choosing yet though. I am also involved in athletics and various extracurricular activities, which will hopefully increase my chances. Thanks!

If you see yourself in here (http://admissions.ncsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/first_year_facts_2013.pdf), I think you will be fine. NC State considers more than just grades.

And FYI, I had a C or two and a couple of B’s in high school. I took a very rigorous course load (11 AP’s and the rest were Honors), but a few bad grades didn’t mess me up. I think my weighted GPA was ~4.9 and unweighted might have been a 3.8? 3.7? I can’t remember exactly.

So I got my grades today, and it turns out that I somehow got one more B than I expected :(((( So 3/4 classes that I have taken during my junior year have been a “B”… I almost feel like crying because moving mid year REALLY thre me for a loop… There goes my upward trend… Does anybody have any advice???

You should be fine. Just keep your GPA up and maintain a solid class rank. Several B’s won’t hurt.

I haven’t gotten an email about that scholarship either. Now I’m worried I got rejected!
