I was wondering if any of you were listing any hobby type ECs. I spend a lot of time playing an instrument but I'm not sure if listing it is a good idea.

OH! I have an even more important question:

How are you interpreting the “number of years after 12th” option for ECs?
Is the amount of time that has passed since 12th grade and the start of your EC?
Or the number of years you spent doing it, that were also after 12th?

For example, if I was in the math club for 1 year in my 3rd year of college, would I put 1 year or 3?

If you think it is worth putting on your application and it will help you get in then I think it is okay. The whole reason for that section is for the campuses to get a better idea of who you are. If playing an instrument is an important part of your life then I think it is worth putting on the application.

I think it is the amount of time that has passed since 12th grade and the start of your EC. Basically when did you start your EC. Then it also asks you how long you have done the EC and that’s where you would put the start date and end date (if there is one).
