What USC clubs are the "best"?

What clubs at USC are really worth looking at? I am interested in social and educational types. Any mention of different types of clubs would be great.

With more than 450 student organizations, this is something you will probably have to look at for yourself - the clubs that would be " best" for one student would hold no interest for another. With more than 450 organizations from which to choose, rest assured that there will plenty of options that meet your particular interests. This is one of the many, many benefits offered by a large, diverse research university.

If you are starting at USC this Fall, there will be an Involvement Fair on August 27th from 11am to 2pm. The over 450 student organizations set up tables and new students can ask/inquire/sign up. There is another Involvement Fair the first week of Spring semester for students entering USC in Spring.

http://sait.usc.edu/stuorgs/resources_services.asp#fair</a> (The " RSVP" mentioned in the link is for organizations which plan to be IN the fair, not for the attendees - you just show up!)

Check out the Trojan Marching Band. It’s a huge commitment but my daughter couldn’t imagine not being a member. She had no band experience before joining (she played the violin) but if you are willing to learn, they will teach you. Band camp starts the week before classes so if you want to join your first year you need to sign up now and plan to be on campus a week early. If you want any more details, feel free to PM me. My daughter only joined because I read things about the band on this forum before she started 2 years ago and encouraged her to look into it :)

Check out the clubs associated with your intended major. That way you’ll meet those with similar academic interests, including upper grads who will act as mentors.

When you fill out the summer registration/orientation forms there is a place to indicate interest in some of the organizations. Check as many as you find relevant to you. You aren’t obligated to join but it puts you on their radar and they’ll send you information about their activities once school starts.

@SeattleTW give a good place to start - the ones for your major and I’ll add find the ones that relate to any hobbies and extracurricular interests you’ve had. And ditto @CollegeMom48. I’ve heard great things about the band. They’re hilarious! and the students seem like they’re having a blast. You don’t even have to know an instrument to join)

Don’t hesitate to try something new. USC has some amazing resources and I’ve encouraged my daughter to explore and experiment so she took up a sport she always wanted to try as a club activity and loves it.
