Wow @guineagirl96 having that many science courses sounds awesome
…except I probably wouldn’t be able to decide which classes to take
Standard:
9th- Earth/Environmental Science
10th- Biology
11th- Physical Science and/or Chemistry
12th- No science or science easy elective.
Most advanced:
8th: Earth/Environmental Science
9th: Biology Honors and Physical Science
10th: Chemistry and Physics
11th: AP Biology/AP Chemistry
12th: AP Physics/ AP Environmental
Regular biology
Regular chemistry
Regular Physics
AP physics 1
That’s what I did through my years
What my School Suggests and what most people do:
9th Grade: Physical Science or Physical Science and Biology
10th Grade: Biology or Chemistry
11th Grade: Chemistry or AP Chem and Physics
12th Grade: AP Chem/Physics/AP Bio or AP Bio or AP Physics
What I’m planning on doing
9th Grade: Physical Science
10th Grade: Biology and Physics
11th Grade: AP Physics and Chem
12th Grade: AP Chem
9: Honors Bio
10: Honors Chem
11: Honors Physics/something else(AP Chem, Bio, etc) I did AP Enviromental Science
12: AP Physics C
Average Kids
9: Biology
10: Chemistry or Physics
11: Whatever you didn’t take in 10 (recommended) but Organic Chem is there if you hate Physics, but you can do any science class to get the credits required.
12: See 11
Advanced Kids
9: Advanced Biology
10: Advanced Chemistry, AP Physics
11: See 11 for average kids
Me being me, I took a mixture of regular and advanced classes because a lot of advanced teachers are just ridiculously hard while others are extremely easy graders.
Hmm I did:
9: Physics Honors
10: AT Physics
11: the other APs
12: college classes
But for most:
9: Biology Honors
10: Chemistry Honors
11: Physics Honors
12: One of AP Biology, AP Chemistry, or AP Physics
@asuna69 Wow! How did you fit all those APs in your schedule?
What is AT Physics?
Also, what were your other classes?
@ Well (1) get on good terms with your counselor and (2) get lucky with scheduling conflicts somehow working out every year (such as with AP Bio and AP Chem labs during the same period but not on same days).
For like junior year I had AP Bio, AP Chem, APUSH, AP Lang, AP French, Multi, and senior year I just have 2 lolzy classes + some fun college stuff. Somehow junior year wasn’t that bad (anime consumption rate skyrocketed second half of junior year - ended up having <90 in all my classes (89.5 is an A at our school)), and senior year is pretty chill (basically go to school for 2 hours, then go home and watch anime and/or sleep).
But yeah basically don’t make your counselor hate you and pray that class scheduling works out for you.
Slightly off-topic but does anyone know a nice anime-styled MMORPG that would run on linux without use of emulators like WINE? Or maybe I should just get windows…
At my high school the following science classes are mandatory:
9th grade: Biology (PreAP or normal)
10th grade: Chemistry (PreAP or normal)
11th grade: Physics (PreAP or normal)
12th grade: Organic Chemistry [unless you take an AP Science]
One can take a certain AP Science after taking the corresponding course. So, in:
10th grade: AP Biology or AP Environmental Science
11th grade: AP Biology, APES, and/or AP Chemistry
12th grade: AP Biology, APES, AP Chemistry, and/or AP Physics
In 9th grade every student in my school has to take Physical Science. In tenth grade every student must take Biology, although some take chemistry as well.
In 11th grade, one can choose from chemistry, physics, anatomy( 3 levels, CP, Honors, or college credit), APES, or AP Chem.
In 12th grade one can choose from AP Bio, AP Chem, Physics, Anatomy, APES, or various other electives.
My sequence is
9th: Physical Science Honors
10th: Biology Honors
11th: College Anatomy and Chemistry Honors
12th: AP Bio
Standard Track
9: no science or Physical Science
10: Biology
11: Chemistry
12: no science or something easy like Environmental Science or Earth & Space Science
Track Typical for Most People I Know
9: Biology
10: Chemistry
11: Earth & Space Science or Anatomy & Physiology (harder than most honors science classes at my school)
12: Physics, Environmental Science, Earth & Space Science, or even AP Biology
Nerd Track (aka my track)
9: Honors Biology
10: Honors Chemistry
11: Honors Physics, occasionally taken in tandem with AP Biology or Chemistry
12: AP Biology or Chemistry, unless Honors Physics hasn’t been taken at this point
9th - Honors Biology
10th - AP Biology, Honors Chemistry
11th - AP Chemistry
12th (projected) - AP Environmental, AP Physics 1
There is a specific order for 9th and 10th grade:
Honors/Regular Biology
Honors/Regular Chemistry
Then junior and senior year you can pretty much take whatever as long as you have your prerequisites or co-requisites.
Most take AP Biology/Chemistry then Regular/Honors/AP Physics (AP is both parts of AP Physics C)
However, other science classes include: Anatomy & Physiology, Engineering (A/B, each is a semester), Psychology (semester), or Environmental Science.
9: Honors Biology
10: Honors Chemistry
11: Regular Physics & AP Chemistry
12: AP Physics 1
9: CP Geoscience, Honors Bio
10: CP Biology, Honors Chem,CP Chem if you dropped down
11: CP Chem, Honors Physics, AP Chem, AP Enviromental Science, AP Biology, CP Physics if you dropped down, AP Physics 1, Forensic and biotech (2sem), Anatomy
12: Any of the above (except for geoscience) and an additional AP Physics C
9th: Biology or Honors Biology
10th: Earth Science,Chemistry, Pre-IB Honors Chem, AP Chemistry
11th: AP Physics 1,2,C , Anatomy and Physiology, IB Physics, AP Enviro. Science
12th: AP Biology, IB Biology SL/HL
My School doesnt allow doubling science courses which I hate because I can’t decided whether to do Honors Chemistry or AP Chemistry. I would have also wanted to double Physics and Enviromental Science in my junior year but no -.-
same as some people, my county has a lot of mandatory pre-requisites.
- hons bio
- hons chem 11.Ap Enviro/ hons.physics
- Probably AP Bio/ not sure about the other
9: Honors Bio*
Summer before 10th: Honors Chem*
10: AP Bio, AP Chem
11: Honors Physics, Analog Electronics, Neurobiology
12: Honors Geosystems, APCS, Organic Chem, Neuroscience Lab*
- = required classes (we have a variety of research labs to choose from) Analog, neurobio, and organic are semester classes
What my school reccomends for regular students:
9: Earth Science
10: Marine Science
11: Biology
12: Chemistry
What my school reccomends for most advanced students:
9: Biology Honors
10: Chemistry Honors
11: Marine Science Hon/Dual Enrollment Anatomy/AP Chem/AP Bio
12: Marine Science Hon/Dual Enrollment Anatomy/AP Chem/AP Bio/AP Physics
What I’m going to do (because I want to be a scientist):
9: Honors Biology and Honors Chemistry (online)
(I’m plainning on)10: AP Bio
11: AP Chem
12: AP Physics
