9: Biology
10 AP Chem
11 AP Physics, Biology, Environmental Science, general science (9th) class challenged
Done
9: Biology
10: Honors Chemistry
11: Honors Physics and AP Biology
12: AP Physics C
Standard Track:
9: Coordinated science
10: I think biology but it might be possible to take chemistry
11: Pretty much whatever science you want, we have APES, AP chem, AP bio, AP or honors anatomy, physics, marine ecology and some IB stuff (a lot of classes are IB/AP at my school)…
12: Whichever you want, or none, selecting from the above. Plus a few more options that have prereqs listed above, such as IB HL sciences, I think (but I’m not sure)
Accelerated/advanced track:
9: Biology
10: Chemistry, usually. You could take classes like marine ecology or anatomy this year but chemistry is a prerequisite for a lot of upper level classes so it’s advised you take chem
11: Again, whatever you want, I believe you can start taking AP sciences at this point (although some like APES might be available earlier, as I said before, most higher level science classes require chemistry and/or biology first)
12: Probably another advanced science class, I don’t think many kids in the accelerated track skip the fourth year of science, although you could
My planned science classes:
9: Biology
10: Chemistry
11: Honors physics(IB SL?)
12: IB HL physics
9: Honours Biology and Physics
10: AP Biology and Physics, Honours Chemistry
12 (skipped grade 11): AP Chemistry
Since I go to a STEM themed magnet school it depends on a person’s pathway.
For Engineering Students:
9th - Honors Biology
10th - Honors Chemistry & AP Chemistry
11th - AP Computer Science, AP Physics I, & Post-AP Materials Chemistry
12th - AP Physics II or AP Physics C: Mechanics
For Biomedical Sciences Students:
9th - AP Environmental Sciences
10th - Honors Biology & AP Biology
11th - Honors Chemistry & AP Chemistry
12th - AP Physics I
9th: Earth Science
10th: Biology
11th: Chemistry
12th: Physics/Human Anatomy
Advanced Track:
9th: Molecular Biology
10th: AP Chemistry
11th: AP Physics B
12th: AP Biology
9: Earth Sci/Physical Science
10: Biology
11: Chemistry
12: I give up
I’m not a science person.
9th-- Honors Biology
10th-- Honors Chemistry and AP Physics 1
11th-- AP Biology DP – no single period class in my school
12th-- AP Chemistry DP – same case
You only need three science credits to graduate high school in my county, but you are required to take both Biology and Chemistry
It’s interesting how it’s so different for every school.
9th- Honors Biology
10th- Sophomore Chemistry (basically like honors, my school’s weird)
11th- Physics and AP Chemistry
12th- AP Biology
not a fan of physics, or ap chem for that matter
Honors Biology 9th
Honors Chemistry 10th
Honors Physics 11th
AP Biology/AP Chemistry 12th
9 - Honors Bio
10 - Honors Chem and AP Bio
11 - AP Physics B and (?) AP Chem
12 - AP Physics C
School Choices:
9- Biology / Honors Biology / Earth Science
10- Chemistry / Honors Chem. / Environmental Science / Earth Science
11 and 12- Physics / STEM Physics / APES / APCHEM / APBIO / Anatomy (doubling up allowed)
Mine: Honors Bio, Honors Chem, STEM, Anatony
9-Honors Bio
Summer- Honors Chem Flex Credit
10- AP Physics C
11- AP Chem
12- flex credit an advanced physics class or forgo science altogether and just take more math classes!
9- Accelerated Biology/Chemistry
10- Accelerated Chemistry/Physics
11- IB Biology HL 1, IB Chemistry SL
12- IB Biology HL 2, IB Physics SL
My old school:
Physical Science
Biology
Chemistry or Environmental Science
Physics or Anatomy and Physiology
My current school:
Physical Science or Advanced Physical and Biological Sciences
Pre-AP or Regular Biology
If you took APBS, either Pre-AP or Regular Chemistry. If you took Physical Science you have TONS of random science options
Same as junior year
But, alas, at my current school they changed it!
Now:
Pre AP or Regular Biology
Pre AP or Regular Chemistry
Junior/Senior Year: astronomy, geology, environmental (regular or AP) AP Bio, Chem, or Phys, plus more science electives I can’t think of
Hopefully I’m not opening a “dead” thread:
9th: Academic or Honors Bio
10th: Academic or Honors Chem
11th: [Academic or Honors Physics] and/or [AP Chem] and/or [AP Bio] or [Astronomy] or [ES/Forensics] or [AP Environmental] or another lesser-known class
12: No science or any/a combination of the options above
9th: Honors Bio
10th: AP Chemistry
11th: AP Physics 1
12th: AP Physics 2
12th should’ve been Physics C but my counselor sucks ;-;
9- Bio (required, no honor level)
10- Reg/Honors Chem, Reg Physics, AP Physics 1 (formerly Physics Honors). All advanced/accelerated classes have math pre-reqs.
11- AP Bio, AP Physics 1/C:Mechanics, AP Chem, APES, Anatomy/Physio, any of the other classes listed in sophomore year. All AP classes have some type of pre-req to be met.
12- see classes listed above in 10 and 11.
Sometimes, people take AP Bio or AP Chem (no doubling up) sophomore year, but they have to take something at the local CC to do so. Everyone just has to complete one year of lab and one year of life science.
I’m pretty late but I’ll share…
Freshmen - Honors Biology
Sophomore - Honors Chemistry
Junior - Honors Physics and Anatomy and Physiology
Senior - Some AP Science idk which one haha
