what was your first car?

2002 Toyota Corolla.

Jpod, we didnt buy our cars we leased them, which is a lot less than $260k. And my brother drives a Range Rover, so that is even cheaper too. And it's not like we are bringing in billions, so I dont know why you would hear of us anyway but one day you will. My father is very very heavily invested in the stock market too, and my brother and I have been learning from him since we were little kids. Anyway, believe what you like it makes no difference to me. Instead of sitting there trying to fathom how we made our money, you should go out and make your own. - DAN

Oh, and by the way you should tell your brother that watching Cramer will not make him money. He is a good trader, but many of his picks are totally wrong. Last week he said that AA would break market estimates. Oh boy was he wrong. Just like he said AAPL would go to $120 a share when it was at $80. My brother and I went short at $70 and change and still going. He killed anyone who listened to him for that. Your brother should do his own HW and get into the stocks people like Cramer are bullish on even before he says anything about that stock. - DAN

Where and what's your suggestion on doing our homework? What websites and such places can i read to help me start?

cramer is an idiot.

bpk1, just start looking around online to get the jist of everything. start with investopedia so you can figure out what kind of trader your are and certain terms you will need to know. it is a lot to take in but a lot of people trade. my mom's boss (a dentist) goes into his office often to check how he is doing for the day. he makes so much money in the market that he treats his practice like a hobby.

He watches it just for the hell of it. He doesnt base his picks off of Cramer's antics. He watches CNBC like crazy. He may only be 15, but I can assure you he knows what he's doing. Same with my dad...usually. Not this week, his company dropped a ****load :/

That Range Rover must get some good gas mileage...same with your mercedes, SMART PICKS.

I have a 2005 Scion xA. I love it! I got it last summer when I was 19. I waited until I was 18 to get my license, and that was my first car. I had just borrowed my parent's cars when I really needed to drive. My dad made a down payment (a little less than half) and now I make the monthly payments from working part time and summers. It is a really affordable car, and having something new and foreign has a better chance of having fewer repair bills down the road. =)

I agree that parents shouldn't buy their kids cars outright, but kids should also be driving something safe. Making the payments every month is an incentive for me to take care of it--it won't be paid off until after I graduate college!

Those box shaped Scions are eyesores. I can't stand them. They're so ugly. Same with those Honda Elements...they're boxes on wheels.

'68 Ford Mustang...

i've had it since i was 16, graduation present is getting it completely redone before i leave for college.

Nice wdlan. I too am paying off my car, I work part time. So I didn't get my car for free from my parents, plus I work a LOT at my house. Plus I'm selling some of my stuff to help pay for it, I'm selling my minibike, hydroplane, ect.

i think an interesting follow up thread could be, "who / (what) was your first?"

;) ;)

First car? The first one that I can actually call my own is an h3, which I will be taking with me to college. ^_^

My first car was (is) a Mercedes-Benz C230. My mom bought it for me a year after I got my license because it was a hassle taking three kids to all our different activites when I could have taken myself. I got hit a few weeks ago and my bumper isn't even dented it's barely scratched, that's why mom mom bought such a nice car! She wanted one that would be extra safe and have a passenger airbag. I don't get to take it to college though- it'll stay at home until my sisters learn to drive.

Benzes arent exactly the best made cars of all time. A nice car doesnt always translate to safe/damage proof.

First Car, BMW X5, mom liked it more so she stole it from me. Then got Porsche Cayenne S, didn't like it so my dad drives it. So I drive my sister's BMW 330Ci because she got a new car.

Are you insanely rich?? The X5 is a $80,000 car, the Porsche I'm not sure about but it has to be close to the BMW. And so is a 330Ci. Lucky. Lol.

2005 Honda Accord Coupe v6 trim.
No navgiation system though, which I'm regretting. Shoulda got that as well.
Hey, 240 HP is pretty nice for a first car. Once that v-tech kicks in, it's pretty darn nice.

My first car is a Porsche Cayman.

*** is a V6 trim?

Oh, and the X5 isnt $80K. The base is $43K, but it can go up to over $80K. Most expensive starting base price is $71K. Waste o moolah.
