what will my gpa be if i got all A's?

Hello! I have a question about my GPA. Right now it is 2.9 (B) and i really want to pull it up. My question is: what is the highest i can pull it up if i get all A’s in all of my classes by 1st quarter (if i want to apply early decision) and then by first semester (if i want to apply regular decision)

Easy calculation.
For first semester. You have had six semesters prior to this one so first do 2.9 X 6 and then add 4.0 to that and divide by 7 for the total of seven semesters.
The result is 3.057 for the regular decision deadline if you get all A’s

@Candeee Depends, how does your school calculate GPA? If you can’t calculate your GPA based on current grades and assumed ones, then we have some bigger problems to tackle.

@Candeee - I will be blunt here. If you cannot do the basic math to figure this out, why do you think a school will consider you for early decision?

Not to sound mean but 2.9 is below a B, its a high C. And also, take out PE because some high schools like mine put it into GPA.

If you apply ED then your GPA stands as it is…

@hsseniior2
I think a 2.5 is still technically a B average.

@LordBendtner When you get a B it adds 3.0 to GPA.

@LordBendtner - on what planet is a 2.5 “technically” a B average. It is a C Plus, and for this person to think she can get into any reputable school early decision is frankly delusional.

If the high school doesn’t do pluses and minuses – mine didn’t – then a 2.9 could be correctly characterized as “mostly Bs with some Cs.” A 3.9, similarly, is hardly a B average just because it starts with a 3…mostly As with a B or two. If pluses and minuses are taken into account, sure, C+. If not, we’re still on the same planet. :slight_smile:

@CollegeDadofTwo @hsseniior2
3 Bs and 3 Cs (which at most schools is a 2.5 uw) is still a B average. Also http://inquiry.princetonreview.com/leadgentemplate/GPA_popup.asp and acccording to collegeboard a C+ average is a 2.3.

@CollegeDadofTwo @hsseniior2

2.9 is about an 84 numerically at my school, which is a B. NHS admission requires a 3.0 (85 average). We don’t use pluses of minuses, and our scale is 90-100 =A, 80-89=B, 70-79=C, and 65-69 is a D. 64 and below is failing. 2.5 is an 80, which is still technically a B

No, the mode and median is a B but not the average.

I think we should ask the OP how many C’s or D’s have she received. To get a 2.9 she would have to have gotten a grade lower than a B since a B will give 3.0 into GPA.

@Candeee - what is your numerical average? It would be much easier to advise since you did not give full information earlier (i.e., if you have a problem and are posting for help, post ALL relevant facts. Otherwise any answer you get is useless).
