What would be the lowest 'requirements' for having a chance at Stanford? (In your opinion)

There are a lot of posts asking for judgments, but I think this might be interesting. Of course, having a uw 4.0, and w 4.4+ is preferred, along with saving an African village while simultaneously ranking first in science olympiad, being an international chess champion, and publishing papers. But what, in your opinion, would be the lowest requirements to give someone a shot at getting in, BARING stellar recs, essays, and alumni parents?

Don’t understand the BARING comment.

“barring” ?

It’s really hard to tell… I feel like a lot of it depends. Someone might suck at SATs but be amazing in everything else and get in. Or come from a really low income family and not have the same opportunities but be really passionate in a few extracurriculars and get good grades. I think it really depends and a lot of it comes down to being passionate and good at the things you love. And luck of course
But then again how do I know? I’m a high school student.

he/she meant “barring”

I actually did some research on this. First of all, you have a better chance of getting in if u pick a more competitive and difficult major and show inclination to do undergraduate research. As for minimum requirements, these are my views.

  • gpa 3.70.
  • top 10% in class.
  • SAT at least 1800/2400.
These conclusions are all based on statistics. Of course, if u feed African children you will be given a higher consideration, but people have been accepted with just the above qualifications.
