Recently I was accepted into a scholarship program that promotes the language and culture study of critical languages. Today I was also accepted into my summer residential governor's academy for humanities. I am having a difficult time deciding between the programs. I am not looking for "what would look better for ivy league universities" but rather "what would you do."

I attended the same scholarship program last summer, and it consumes my whole summer. My grandfather is also sick and that is not a force behind my decision but something to keep in the back of my mind. I can honestly see myself participating in either program and being happy. Governor's Academy is a month long leaving room for college apps, volunteering, interning, and possibly participating in another summer 2 wk long program.

What would you do HSL

What we would doesn’t really matter because none of us have the same interests or goals as you do.

But FWIW, I went to gov school in my state a couple of years ago and thought it was a really great program. I learned a lot and had a good time. That said, I can’t speak for the gov schools in Virginia.

I’m just sort of searching for a different perspective and an unselfish one. Thank you - gov school does look really fun from what I’ve seen.

If it helps I hope to major in International Relations and a language (russian, italian, farsi, etc) with hopes of working for the State Dept

i would go with the one i could afford.

if $$$ is not the issue, I would go try the one I haven’t done yet, in your case being the humanities program. that’s my take on it. XD good luck! you won’t regret it, whichever you choose, i’m sure.

I say go to governor’s school. as you said, you would have a lot more time to prepare for the fall

thanks guys! I’m leaning towards governors school atm…
