What Would You Do?

Hey guys,

I have the option of choosing two of the following six AP classes. Which ones would you choose and why? (These are all ONLINE)

AP US Gov't and Politics
AP Statistics
AP Human Geography
AP Psychology
AP European History
AP World History

Thanks! :D

ap human geo & ap gov…

both are easy and manageable on your own, not as hefty as ap euro or ap world.

I recommend AP Gov’t to most people, mainly because it’s a very useful class for anyone living in the US. It’s shocking how little our country knows about the way the government works.

I noticed that everyone from this thread posted from North Carolina (where my dad lives) or Virginia (where my aunt lives :P).

AP US GOPO is a definite. Like Etuck said, it’s very helpful.

I’d say that if you enjoy history, go for AP Euro. If you’re looking for an easy AP, go for Human Geography.

Alright, US Gov’t sounds good since I just finished my Civics & Economics class. What about AP Psychology? I am very interested in Neurobiology.

I would take AP Psychology and AP World History.

Just because I’m interested in the subjects. :)

I really hate History though… haha it bores me to death.

AP World was one of the best classes I have ever taken in highschool. I would recommend that and Psychology.

Statistics. Useful in all career paths.

@astults: Well here’s the problem; I will be taking Honors US History next year, do you think one of those history classes would conflict with it? I really don’t want to experience an info overload.

@Mathfreak: From what I heard AP Stats through our online provider is very hard. Last year one of my friends who was ranked 8th in his class dropped down to 20th after he took Statistics.

Psychology and Human Geo. I would still take statistics instead of human geo, but if you would rather not…

AP Gov and APWH

If it’s flvs, it’s really easy. In general, I thought it was pretty simple (and what I loved about it was that it all made sense). If you’d rather not, however,

The best ones to take are: AP Statistics and AP Psychology. Like stated above in post #9 Stats is the most useful in different career paths. I also heard that AP Statistics is A LOT of writing. It’s like a Math-English class, you need to have good writing skills and math skills. Also it’s best to take Statistics and Probability before AP Stat. It required in my school to take Stat & Prob before AP Stat.

AP Psychology is really interesting and really fun. The projects are fun and you also learn a TON. It may be a lot of work, but the wealth of information is really rewarding.

AP Psych and AP Gov.
since you don’t like Stats
but they are all great classes to take, I’ll be taking every class up there except world

AP Stat and AP US Gov
I’m a math guy, and Stat is the mathiest class there. Also, Gov is just a useful class in general, that’s why I’m taking Econ.
If not Gov though, then definitely European History.

I don’t think you could get mixed up from taking more History classes, if anything they’ll support each other.
Although, you should have seen the number of people who got policies and people mixed up between Stalin’s Russia and Hitler’s Germany, our most recent topics, in our modern world History test.

Definitely take psych if you’re interested on neurobiology.

Yeah I am taking Psychology, I just don’t know which other one to take. It sounds like Stats would be very beneficial. On the other hand I have heard it is VERY hard. Is this true?

I think stats for the exam would be relatively easy, but as a self-study it might be more difficult. I would again recommend taking APWH. You don’t cover any United States history at all, so it would be relatively easy to keep the material separated. APWH really wasn’t a hard class - the bulk of the work was reading the textbook, but since you’re moving on to different societies all the time, it never gets boring. And the themes are really thought-provoking and made me a better student overall.
