what is this “curve” ???

oh yea forgot: AT MOST: (giving myself the worst possibility)

math : -3
CR: -12 (skipped +missed)
W: -12 w/ 8 essay (skipped + missed)

^ I think you’re looking at 1800~MAYBE 1900.

whats the “curve”

and 1900 minimum is fine for me!

the SAT tests for each testing day are curved so that the difficulty is accounted for. For example if May had a really easy CR section and March had a really hard CR section, than you can get more wrong on the harder day and still get the same score as the person who got less wrong on the May day.

lol..I am still hurting from March’s curve.. 6 wrong and 1 omitted results in a lowly 690…

^ Very confusing description for a 1900-er. Jk jk. :p

When a test is graded, the scores usually end up on what’s called a bell curve, where a few people get high scores, the majority get medium scores, and a few get low scores. Sometimes when not enough people get high scores and a teacher wants to be nice and raise grades, they will “curve” the test. This means that they move the person with the highest score’s grade percentage to a higher percentage (usually 100%) and move everyone else up by exactly the same amount it took to move the highest person to that position.

Same thing with the SAT. So, basically what this means is… if they give you a lenient curve… you could get as much as 2/3 wrong and still get an 800. See what I mean? (We’re hoping for this type of curve on the CR, at least) ;).

I’d say:

Math - 720
Cr - 630
WR - 580

So. . . . so yea, little over 1900

And -2 on CR is almost always an 800. -3 Rarely is, though. Usually the scale goes 800-800-800-800-780/790 or 800-800-800-790-780/770. The only way -3 is an 800 is if one of the 3 was omitted and you get the former of those scales.

Did you take the May test? ^

Thanks for the detailed explanation Feed

I knew what a curve was, just not for the SAT. Best case scenario i say i make a 2100, worst is a 1900. The CR with the rocks and outdoors was pretty cheesy. I skipped like 4 of those questions just cause they disillusioned me. I read one and was like “whoa, *** did i just read?”

It’s the SAT though.. expect the unexpected..

LOOL I’m sorry… some people really don’t know what a curve is… so.

Btw, I felt the EXACT same way on the rocks passages. I had like 5 mins left so I was pretty much screwed.

@Joe, well that’s comforting, but it better be a GOOD unexpected. __

can somebody please estimate my scores??
cr:12mistakes
writing:4 mistakes and a 10 essay
math:1 mistake

What do you think would be the most math questions I could get wrong and still get around a 650? I plan on retaking the SAT in october specifically with math in mind so I’m not that worried about having too low a score since most colleges superscore, but I would certainly prefer a at least a decent one because it just looks better overall. I know I can break 700+ in math but it just seems to be hit or miss with me. May SAT = miss. So how many do you think?

Can i please get an estimate?
best:
