I'm planning on taking Spanish (first language), but don't know which other to take. I want to make sure I do really good in both since I won't have chance to retake them

If I'd take something like Spanish and Lit, does it look bad? Should I include a science, like Math, instead of two languages?

by first language, do you mean that you speak Spanish? Because colleges usually look down on students taking an exam for a language they’re fluent in already (as in not fluent bec classes, fluent bec spoken @ home). It’s like taking the easy way out. If you’re good at English, you’ll do fine on the lit test. The bio sat II wasn’t that bad, or U.S. History. If you’re decent at math, I’d definitely try the math 2 test. Just be sure to take two tests from two different subject areas.

Easiest, I think are math I and Bio.

I’ve heard that the hardest is the lit sat but If you have a high cr score on the sat I then it’s not so hard.

yeah, like Caruso707 said, math I is easy, which is why it looks like cop out to more selective schools. Depending on where you intend to apply, math II is probably a better exam to take.

Thanks for the answers!

I meant, Spanish is my first language… So you wouldn’t recommend me taking the exam then?

Also, in comparison with the SAT I, how different/harder is Math 2? Isn’t Bio a lot of memorization?

Oh, I was just confused at first about the first language thing being in () bec wasn’t sure if you meant first language exam choice or whatever…though rereading things I’m not sure why I was ever perplexed, 1st lang is obviously the first language you learn to speak? If you speak Spanish, don’t take the exam, just list on your applications that you are fluent. Math 2 just goes more into precalc concepts than math 1 does-it test you on more years of math knowledge. If you have a good grasp of algebra, basic properties of functions when graphed, and the unit circle/trig, you’ll be fine for math 2. If you’ve taken a bio class in school, the bio subject test would basically be like the final exam for that class. The only difference is that for the E exam you might have to learn some human anatomy and physiology like function of the colon, etc. and if you take M you really have to have DNA/mitosis/photosynthesis down cold.

Ok, thanks higheredaspirer :)

I thought USH was extremely easy.

Desafinado: Maybe, but I’m an international student and don’t know much about USH lol XD

Don’t take Math 1, take Math 2! Math 2 has a much better curve. You can miss questions and still get a perfect scores. The math really isn’t that difficult. You have to know a bit more math than SAT 1 math, but it’s all pretty easy stuff and its not hard to study/prepare for at all.

You do want a math/science one though, usually. So either math 2 or a science subject that you’re good at would be best.
