What would you tell yourself right before college?

As a high school senior about to go to college I was wondering what all the college students or college graduates here would tell themselves (if you could go back in time) right before college.

What advice would you give yourself?

break up with your high school boyfriend
don’t get your nose pierced at that sketchy place on w 8th st
drink more

Buy some fly isshhhh and show em how it’s donneee in NYC.

It’s what you make it. It’s what you make it. It’s what YOU make it.

Try something new.

nahh take my advice bro, buy some nice fresh clothes luke Burberry polos, a roles watch, a 328i bimmer, some Ducati kicks and learn how to bring your flirting skills up. Best thing to do, and maybe get in shape if you not. Also like be mentaly prepared to study hard and play hard. College, it’s the shhiiiiitttttttttt

I completely fudged up my first year of college, I’m on damage control gpa wise. I wasn’t focused and all I wanted to do was party. I lived on rez and it’s really hard to study, go to the library you’re much better off, it’s not a learning environment. It’s also a lot faster passed, study as you go along, every day, trust me you’ll be happy when finals come around. I would tell myself:

 • study
 • study
 • Focus on you, I was trying to be every ones friend that I completely lost track of why i was there in the first place.
 • also have fun, but not all the time, it’s a balance.

In ascending order of importance:

Don’t try to force friendships with your random freshman roommates. You either click or you don’t. You gave it an effort, but you will realize just how weird and reclusive they were when you meet normal people. Move on.

Alcohol isn’t satan’s brew. Experiment with it sooner. (I actually prefer to drink in moderation or not at all when I go out now, but I think it was inevitable to go through the various stages of use).

Be unshamedly, unapologetically yourself. Don’t try to hard to seek everyone’s validation/ friendship/ approval. Be who you want to be and not what you think others want you to be.

And… drumroll

BE MORE AGRESSIVE WITH GIRLS! Hit on them more, ask them out more. Because it’s easier than you think. It seems difficult, but it’s really not. Go for it!

Agree with #1: You can’t get dates if you don’t ask girls out. And dinner/movie is not as good as it sounds: Too much talking with dinner, not enough with a movie.

Try to figure out your alcohol limits without crossing them.

Make time to exercise. It makes everything else better/easier.

Remember you’re there to go to school, so get your hw done, but don’t forget that college is incredibly fun, and if you’re bored, you’re probably doing it wrong.

Being reliable will make you a ton of friends. Don’t commit to activities/jobs/etc. and then back out later (Don’t bite off more than you can chew). I suppose that goes for life in general.

Bill and Ted quote: Be excellent to each other.

Have more fun and go to the gym.

FOCUS and do everything in moderation, but find something you are really passionate about and pursue it.

What was that line again? “Everything in moderation, including moderation.”

ESPECIALLY moderation.

dont listen to moonnite his advice will make you into some type of guido dbag that no one likes.

my advice: have fun and do what you want.

well a lot of stuff

 • talk to more people, just because you find a friend on the first day of class doesn’t mean you’re married to her. also, don’t be scared of people who are not freshmen
 • work with people on problem sets. even if they’re not very smart, you’ll have more fun if you work together. plus it’s insurance against stupid mistakes
 • do fun things sometimes, college isn’t so hard that you have to spend all your time working
 • people are more worthwhile than linux. also, there actually is no best distro, despite the people who say ubuntu is for n00bs.
 • don’t kill yourself
 • get enough sleep

this is my second go at college, and now that i’m doing it right life is awesome

ST FU and stop asking stupid questions on CC.

that’s what I’d tell myself.

Study Hard and Party Hard.

Study a subject you are interested in and aim for a career in something you love to do. If you love what you do you will be good at it and the money will come
