Just wondering what the general year of tranfers was here. I'm currently a freshmen so I'd be a rising sophomore if I get accepted to the school I'm trying to transfer to.. (still don't know) But anyway, what is everyone else? Would you say the majority of transfer students stay two years at their first university or one?

i'm a rising junior--I had considered transferring last year, but my reasons then were more freshman jitters or got worked out this year (i'm not saying that all freshman are like this at all, I just don't think I had legitimate reasons for transfer at the time, though I wish that i was transferring in as a sophomore instead of a junior--if that makes sense)

sure it does. Where are you trying to transfer to? I'm trying to get to NYU. I'm at a tiny rural LAC now

I'm applying to Barnard as a rising sophmore (I got into NYU but I can't afford to go there). If I don't get in this time, I'm not sure I'd want to enter a new school as a rising junior. What would that be like? Where do you go to school now, Ceruleanne?

rising sophomore, transferring to cornell from NYU. very excited about the change from urban to rural.

Wow it's funny to hear people transferring from an urban setting to a rural. I can't imagine anything worse ;) But I'd like to ask: what didn't you like about NYU and why do you feel a rural setting will offer you more? Thanks!

Ah, I want to go to NYU so badly. I'm just going crazy when each day, I check the mailbox and there's nothing. Right now, I go to Kenyon College in Ohio--where do you go? Kenyon is veerryyyy rural. I soo want to expereince life in the city..and I'm also done with the college party atmosphere. I think..it's worthless in the end and everyone has a lot of growing up to do.

i've been in NYC my whole life. I'm just kinda tired of the whole city thing.

i think the rural setting would do me some good. for one thing, it'd allow me to concentrate more at work. secondly, one of the biggest issue with nyu is the lack of a campus (thus lack of a sense of community),

furthermore, the selection of majors at CAS was generic and rather bland. i wanna pursue something more interesting, as oppose to the typical bio, chem, or psychology.

i'm at wesleyan, and i absolutely adore it, but i've had a lot of issues with disabled accessability that have made it less than easy to enjoy (they are absolutely terrible, and though i'd love to help them improve, i also want an opportunity to get a great education without fighting them on it. I've applied at harvard, and though I would go in a heartbeat if i got in, it would be a hard transition, because there are things that i would def. miss about wes, especially some of the profs i've had, (though i would hopefully keep in touch). However, harvard has a program that i wouldn't be able to pursue at wes (social studies). but i think i'll be upset whatever happens between May 15 and June 1.

i will be a junior at age of 19

I'm at Lehigh, and I know how you feel about checking the mailbox! I do that every day for Barnard. I'm even having trouble focusing on my exams cos my mind is just elsewhere. My bf applied to transfer to Columbia but he's calm about the whole thing. Good luck to everyone, let's let each other know how it all goes!

Blackdream: did you or are you going to transfer? I'm 21 and transferring as a rising sophmore. I feel old! ;)

Blackdream- Me too. Actually, I will turn 19 on the first day of welcome week. I feel so young compared to a bunch of people on here.

I'm young too. I'll be a sophomore next year but I don't turn 19 until November. Hey, well last year I was 17 entering college! That's worse. Good luck to everyone as they obsessively check their mail box. I called into NYU yesterday and again, my exam is still under review, so I'm going to cool it with the mail box checking for at least..2 days. heh
