April is the worst month here. I dread it every year.
April is just more of March. Maril, just runs and runs on forever.
I told my husband that I would be happy here, just not in March or November.
The homeless/street crime/ drug situation is really bad right now with many drugs so contaminated with other substances they seem to turn people into intense psychiatric patients very quickly.
We woke up to discover the front of our 1920s duplex had been very violently attacked in the night and the entire front entrance of the building was torn off. But our front entrance area was not not touched or ransacked in any way. Expensive and high quality boots and coats and rain gear were not even touched. Our best guess is someone had a psychotic break in front of our house.
Sorry to hear about that, not fun to feel unsafe in your own home.
People who have psychotic breaks are more likely to harm themselves than other people or property.
We had a similar ER visit a couple weeks ago. Ours was in the middle of the night, when H got up to go to the bathroom. The ER did their stroke / heart attack protocol, and in the end, they determined it was most likely his ear rocks moving when he turned over. Scary and expensive (we have a high deductible plan), but ultimately okay.
I have never in my life heard of ear rocks - I had to look it up! I thought @Marilyn was just misspelling something until it came up again !
My weekend begins at 3pm on Saturday–I work from home starting at 10. Weekend continues through Tuesday.
Alas, I am still/again wheezing. It’s supposed to be a beautiful day here in Brooklyn tomorrow and I am hoping that I can walk to the supermarket. On Tuesday I am supposed to meet a friend at a restaurant at the other end of my neighborhood (about a mile and a half). I am hoping I feel well enough to take the bus or a train, or maybe Lyft if I really have to.
One of my kids has an interest in science. Not the learning about science so much, although he’ll read the occasional extra book etc. and not even the doing of science I.e. doing experiments in his own etc. No, we finally figured out the hobby is having science done to him. Medical research. He likes to be a medical research subject. Particularly investigating how his brain works. (I’ve had a lot of brain related medical stuff.) So tomorrow we will go to the local university again so he will be a control group subject for six hours, fill out lots of tests and forms, have a full scale brain MRI, and get his favorite toasty sandwich in the cafe. He fills a certain niche IQ wise so whenever we apply for something he always qualifies. He particularly likes visits with multiple visits so he can hang out with the graduate students. His third grade teacher allowed him to do an entire presentation with video of “this is a video of my brain.”
Enjoying our last full day in Turks and Caicos. The weather here has been splendid for all 8 days, and we did a close to 50 mile bike ride after taking a ferry as our excursion for the trip. Today’s big decision - “blow the wad” and have a really nice dinner, or go to a more casual place. Decisions, decisions…
I can’t help but think that would make a great college app essay!
It would. But he is only ten so I think he better evidence a little more commitment to science if that is his goal!
