Happy Labor Day, everyone!

Pool today
Saturday - College football party & cookout… UGA-Oregon and Ohio State-ND. (I’ll also be a bit sad to be away from my D on her 20th bday but sent a bunch of goodies and coordinated some surprises with her roomies.)
Sunday - Pool or lake, weather permitting
Monday - TBD

Husband already suggested going out for lamb burgers last night and cinnamon rolls this morning - so far so good! AC is working and the pool awaits.

Pizza today cuz it’s hot.

Making Instapot ribs for dinner. Our good friends are coming to help us eat them. Have no concrete plans for the rest of the weekend. Probably some yardwork!

More Shore!

Where would CCers recommend on the Jersey Shore? I’ve thought about going, but was put off by the TV show’s reputation. But surely there are quieter more genteel towns?

We enjoy Sea Girt and Spring Lake area but would also suggest Long Beach Island and Cape May depending on what you are looking for. None of these towns resemble the caricature that is the MTV show although our neighbor has a “chunky” cat named Snooky.

We’re still tired … Covid finally got us, and we’re just dragging booty these days. We’re no longer needing to isolate or wear masks, so S will join us for a day/night at our cottage tomorrow. We decided not to go out there until tomorrow, since we went out to a comedy show last night and are tired today. We’ll make the 3.5 hour drive tomorrow, do a little necessary maintenance (lawn & vacuuming up bugs), then relax with S & grill some steaks. We’re just relaxing today.

We were worn out from covid the entire month of July. It took a lot out of us.

Glad you are able to spend time at the lake with your son.

My favorite Jersey shore places are Long Beach Island and Cape May.

Another vote for Cape May, although I don’t claim to be an expert on the Jersey shore.

We go to Ocean City NJ…but we go either before or after the main season. We will be there starting on Sept 10. It’s really nice…still warm, things still blooming and green, most things still open, but WAYYYY less people and way less costly to rent for the week. We are in a three bedroom two bath two family and it’s $950 for the whole week. During the season it’s almost three times that amount.

OC is quiet, but that’s what we like!

Bought a toilet and a garbage disposal. Finally got my hair cut after a year. Stopped in a real bra store that actually fits you. In and out of pool. Paperwork. Then today, the beach! Lovely

Highland games. Too hot for kilts. But fun nonetheless. Lots of bagpipes and dancing which reminds me of the first ceilidh I ever attended when I was little. Danny Bhoy describes it well.

Lovely, cold, rainy day here in the Maine woods. I’ll probably spend most of the day on the porch swing sweatered up listening to the rhythm of the falling rain and breathing in as much wet pine as my lungs will hold while I read a new book and feed the chipmunks. Cocktails at 5, chicken on the smoker for dinner, and ice cream by the lake at sunset if it stops raining.

That TV show showed one tiny slice of a town like Seaside Heights.

Cape May is the definition of “genteel,” with Victorian homes and nice beaches, great restaurants. Plan your Cape May vacation | CapeMay.com

Spring Lake is also beautiful. For a nice mix of beaches, restaurants, retail, etc I am partial to Long Beach Island (https://welcometolbi.com/) and Avalon/Stone Harbor. About — Visit Avalon, NJ
