Whoever did the spring academic calendar at FSU deserves a good spanking. I've got an exam tonight, Good Friday, from 5-7 p.m. Monday morning, the day after Easter I've got a final exam scheduled too. Tonight in the dining halls they'll probably be serving only hot dogs and pepperoni pizza for dinner!

I think you can answer this question yourself.

Ouch. Professors will on occasion allow you to take an exam on a different date for religious reasons. This is not something you bring up at the last minute, however.

At least there’s no discrimination?

All holidays are disregarded equally!

From what I remember, the Dining Halls are pretty good about honoring religious holidays.

The calendar is pretty much a secular calendar now. While winter break did start out as Christmas Break, it now is basically just an break between semesters. Otherwise, the calendar is just an academic calendar. Individual students should discuss religious conflicts with professors at the beginning of the term. Then, it will not be an issue and adjustments for individual students can be made.

And yes, it is my understanding that the dining halls do try hard to make available certain foods on certain days. Fresh Food had fried fish and Suwanee had baked fish for Good Friday. (Along cheese pizza, a vegetable pizza, and the daily vegan options available.)

The dining hall did have fish available last night, they have offered fish every Friday during Lent; I had cheese pizza last night. It’s just a bummer this year where Easter falls the same week as final exams and no days off limiting what can be done this Easter weekend and preventing going home. Too, I gave up candy for Lent and I probably won’t be getting an Easter basket Sunday amd I guess I’m getting a little antsy going without chocolate for so long–I’ll have to crash a kids’ Easter Egg hunt somewhere Sunday to get a chocolate fix.

^LOL. Should be plenty of chocolate around.
