I’m specifically curious about weighted on a 5.0 scale. There’s obviously no set minimum, but if you’re looking at the top twenty universities/Ivies what do you think is the minimum GPA where you can consider yourself as being a competitive applicant?
Probably an unweighted 3.9 out of 4.0 in hard courses. Unweighted 4.0 in hard courses is better. Weighted tends to be meaningless outside of your high school.
Of course, for super selective schools, you also need top end test scores, essays, recommendations, and state or national level extracurricular achievement to have more than a trivial chance.
