What's a good SAT II score for NU?

I've heard 700+ is generally good, but is there any point in sending a mediocre score to a school that only recommends sending scores?
For American History, how's a 700-720? How much will getting 800 help? What's a good score to aim for, like 750?(I'm prepping for an upcoming test here)

Why wouldn’t you be aiming for an 800?

^ best comment i’ve read all day.

If you have taken AP US History and have already taken a class on the math in SAT Math IIC (pre-calculus), then you should be able to get close to an 800 (750 at the least). Just read Barron’s and take a lot of practice tests to prepare yourself. If it has been a while since you took that subject in a class setting, I’d try for 700-720+ (for example, if you took biology freshman year, but are only taking the test your junior or senior year, then aim for at least a 700).

Obviously, though, you want to get as near 800 as possible. If you get below a 700 on anything, retake it. For classes you recently took, retake if you get below a 750 (unless it is physics or literature, because both are really hard–low 700s is fine for those, even if you just took those classes). I’m not sure if this applies to the language ones though…

I agree one-hundred percent with Arbiter’s comment. However, I recommend that you don’t stress too much about the test. Prepare well and you’ll be fine. If it helps, I got in without any SAT II’s.

Anything 750+ is generally fine and recommended.

I sent in my US History 740, and my Literature 590…accepted.

Don’t sweat it…I got in to McCormick with a 790 on Chemistry and a 670 on Math II.

SAT IIs are only recommended by NU so just taking the test puts you at an advantage over other students already.
