What's a Really Good MCA Score? Chance please!

Hey!! For CalPolySLO, how selective are they with the MCA Score? Mine is approximately 4700-4850. I’m not sure because of classes and hours worked and ACT/SAT scores.

Im going as an electrical engineering major. I want to go undeclared engineering but I dont think they let you.

GPA: 4.26 UC/CSU
Dont know UW.

ACT: 33
32 E 35M 30R 34S 28W

Superscored: 34
34E 35M 33R 34S 33W

SAT Subject:
Math 2; 800
physics; 710

Good recommendations from my STEM Teachers,

A+'s in all my STEM courses.

But,I dont have any STEM extracurriculars. I have work experience tho…

I have a lot of extracurriculars pertaining to service, with a few awards and leadership positions.

According to others, I am a pretty solid candidate, but I would love to go here.

Im applying to the top 4 UC’s as engineering, along with CPP.

Should I worry? Thanks.

P.S. Im prepared for the 16 unit workload and what an EE handles. As long as I get in, I’ll be satisfied.

I would not worry. If you calculated your MCA score right you have a pretty good chance of getting in.

Your MCA score looks competitive for EE. You have a good chance.

Whoops! Made a mistake, how can I calculate my ACT Score? I did my SAT, which is what I calculated. Im sure my ACT is better but I cant find an accurate conversion. Help?

I would assume that they use a concordance table like this one to convert an ACT score to an SAT score:

https://www.act.org/solutions/college-career-readiness/compare-act-sat/

Other threads in this forum have suggested that CPSLO looks at math and English scores, and ignores the reading, science, and writing scores (you seem to say writing is a 33, by the way, but I thought it was 2 to 12?).

Superscored: 34
34E 35M 33R 34S 33W

So, maybe your 34E and 35M will combine for a 34.5, which is then converted?

If so, based on the chart, that’s comparable to an SAT score of somewhere between a 1490 and a 1590, probably right in the middle, i.e. about 1530-1540. Pretty good!

@eetrojan thanks! the conversion is kinda weird. Most tables are different and may not even be right. Since the essay for the ACT changed this fall, its out of 48, which is then set to a 1-36 scale.

The table CP uses converts your scores to 760/790 CR/M.

@eyemgh What would a 33 math and 36 english convert to on the CP table?

760/800

@eyemgh Hi, do you have a link to the table that CP uses?

I don’t. It was part of the power point linked in keys to the kingdom, but it has since broken. I saved a PDFs, but can’t cut and paste from it. Sorry.

Would an MCA score of 4,659 be competitive for early decision in Kinesiology? (CSU GPA 3.96, ACT 33)
Thanks
