I got a letter inviting me to Reilly Visitation Weekend. Do I get more money?

Weekend attracts top prospectives - News

Although I have heard that they changed the format in recent years, this should give you a pretty good idea of what it is.

what does this entail, financially??

how many people on CC have received invites and what kind of stats did you have?

My daughter hasn't posted but was admitted EA Notre Dame Scholar. She is 1/350 with a 35 ACT and is a National AP Scholar, having taken 11 AP's with 5's on all. She will graduate with 19 AP's. She is a Scholar Athlete -- 4 years of swim team and a has four years of band, marching, symphonic , and jazz, among other officerships and EC's. Do you think this would merit Reilly Scholarship consideration? I see that some students have been notified. Are all invites sent out simultaneously? Any feedback?

It's not a scholarship. It's a program where they fly you up to ND for the weekend to try to convince you to go there.

There is no money involved whatsoever, and I've heard that consideration is based almost entirely on academic credentials, which would probably mean good things for your daughter.

Apparently the usually release the letters in late January, but they may have done so earlier this year, I'm not certain.

My son was A Reilly. ND paid for the flight and expenses for the weekend. The visit solidified his decision to attend ND. He is currently a junior and LOVES ND.

Well, I just now received an invitation to Reilly Visitation Weekend. The letter is dated December 21, but I was out of town for Christmas and didn't get back until today. I'm very excited to attend this--my enthusiam for potentially attending ND has gone up because of this!

Sadly I also have a rugby game, a rugby tournament, and a rugby All-Star tryout on the same weekend. So I will have to see if they are having an RD weekend and if I can go to it, otherwise I will have to make a very difficult decision.

Is this honor offered to all qualified students or does it depend on prospective major?

I believe it's for all students. It's only offered to the top 5% of EA applicants, though I think they've also added an RD weekend.

BPK-it is for all students with different majors. It is, according to when son was admitted, the very top students of the admitted pool just as theloneranger mentioned. Son had a great time at the weekend and of course, it convinced hlm even more about attending. It was kind of nice to see some recruitment of top students (no offense athletes!) esp since ND does not offer any "pure" merit aid. Son was offered full rides, etc at other schools that do offer pure merit aid, but ND was able to woo him even tho financially we did not qualify for reg fin aid. "Pure" merit aid just does not really exist at top tier schools. Reilly Scholars program is a great way to try to attract some of these top kids whether finances are an issue or not.
