Whats better. MSU or $4000/year at Western Michigan?

MSU is second best college in MI and WMU is arguably the third best. My major will be in science because I plan on going into pharmacy. I may also get a scholarship to MSU but I am guaranteed $4000/year at WMU.

It's all about what you want: to save money and get an acceptable education? A better academic program w/ better profs/facilities, students, etc? Prestige?... If it's anything beyond the 1st I've listed, go with MSU. To me, and I'm sure a lot of people, the difference btw the guaranteed scholarship at WMU and speculative money at MSU (which you may still get -- didn't you, somewhere, note you have relatives on MSU's staff?) isn't great enough to make up the significantly greater dividends of attending MSU over WMU -- a nice school, to be sure, but clearly not in MSU's league locally or nationally.

... just my $.02.

If you are even remotely considering Western, why would you not consider Ferris' pharmacy program? If you don't mind the size of MSU or if there aren't any strong reasons why you don't like State, I'd choose MSU over Western.

Ferris is like the crappiest university in MI from what Ive heard. Someone in my med term class is going there and he's retarded. Basically I think its full of pot-heads.

LOL... I doubt Ferris is quite that bad!? Not every school has a pharmacy program. I don't believe Western does but I know Ferris does. You shouldn't have trouble getting into Michigan State, what's holding you back with that decision?

Well I liked $4000/year from Western. Thats the only thing holding me.

not that I know the first thing about universities in Michigan, but what college ISN'T knee-deep in potheads?

/except maybe Bob Jones U

You are guaranteed $2500 at MSU in MEAP money and the MCS. I'd go to MSU, much better school. MSU has recognition in the midwest, Western doesn't have recognition outside of the state of Michigan.

This sounds to me like a decision to be making in March or April, when you KNOW how much money MSU might give you. Why worry about this now?
