What's Better: Superscored SAT or normal ACT?

Basically, I scored a 34 Composite on ACT (E=33, R=35,S=34, and M=35) and a 2220 on SAT (790W, 720 M and 710CR) first time and a 2110 (640W, 800 M, 670 CR) second time. If I superscore my SAT, I get a score of 2300(790W, 800M, and 710 CR). Assuming that the ACT conversion of a 34 is a 2260, would it be better to just submit the ACT alone to colleges, or to submit the two SATs alone, or to submit ALL of the scores. I'm leaning towards submitting only the ACT due to the fact that my highest composite SAT in one sitting was a 2220 with relatively low CR and Math scores for top colleges. I don't want them to think that I'm all over the place since my writing score went from 790 to 640 and CR went from 710 to 670. Thanks.

Top-tier schools will always consider the superscore. I don’t think they will pass some harsh judgement on how your scores fluctuated; some SATs are harder than others. Ultimately, your SAT superscore is better than your ACT score, so I would submit the SATs. However, if you feel so moved to send your ACT score (because your ACT scores are still very good), you can submit it as well, which highlights your academic achievement and well-roundedness.

And don’t forget that scores are only ONE PART of the big picture. Once a school realizes that your scores are at a certain point, they become less important.

I would say depending on which school, you should submit both scores. Your SAT CR+M score is 1510 if superscored, which is the match score of ACT34. Although it appears to be same with either score, it is slightly more impressive if it is from a single sitting. It is hard to predict how the admission officer thinks. I would hide a score only if it is much lower than the other one. In your case, I don’t think you need to hide anything. Remember, ACT has a science section that SAT doesn’t, and you did well in that too. So sending in the ACT score would definitely help if you are applying to engineering school or science major.
By the way, did you (or will you) take any SAT2?

First off, thanks(to both of you) for the advice. Second, to answer your question, I do plan on taking Chemistry Sat II, Math II Sat2, and Spanish SAT II in June. I was following your logic that it would look slightly more impressive if it was in one sitting (the SAT 1510, that is) however then again, going by composite scores, the ACT would be somewhere around 2260, while SAT would be 2310. I think I might just send both, however I’m also thinking of retaking the ACT in June due to the fact that I was basically one question away from a 35.

Go for it. Sounds like a good plan. You have nothing to lose with both things you are planning to do. Good luck.
