What's considered 1st gen?

Hi!

So I was wondering what's considered a first generation college student. My parents and I are immigrants from Armenia. Both my parents got their bachelors degrees at college in Armenia, but I'll be the first one to attend college in America. So do I count as first generation? Or not because they went to school too but in a foreign country.

Thanks!

The question is not “did your parents graduate from an American college”. The question is are your parents college graduates. Thus you are NOT a 1st gen applicant.

What do you suppose is the point of colleges asking if students’ parents were college-educated or not? Have you ever wondered? Think about it.

You are not first generation. You are the child of college educated parents.
