Today I got what seems to be an acceptance from Pitt. The letter starts out with "Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Pittsburgh. I am pleased to inform you that on the basis of your outstanding academic record you qualify to participate in the Universty Honors College."

The rest of the letter talks about the UHC, and the brochure that came with it was also only about the UHC. The acceptance letters I've gotten from other places tend to mention dates when desposits are due, financial aid, next steps such as housing preferences, etc. but the Pitt letter does not. So, I'm kind of confused... Is this an acceptance letter? Or do they send the UHC stuff seperately, and its happened to arrive earlier than the acceptance?

Yes, you are accepted! Congrats! A couple of people have commented that the letters from Pittsburgh seem to arrive in no particular order. In your case, you received the honors college invitation before your acceptance letter! Usually the acceptance letter is about two weeks ahead. If you still have doubts, pick up the phone and call! But if I were you, I would wait a while for all the letters to get there. You will receive all the information you need...gradually!

yea you were accepted. grats

Yay! :D

Well, I got the acceptance letter today. Oddly enough, the letter was dated Jan 4th, but the UHC letter which came yesterday was dated Jan 11th...

I cant believe it. I got accepted too. I didnt expect it at all (considering I gave in my application January 5th and Pitt has rolling admissions). I guess they really liked me a lot. I gave them at least 20 pages of supplemental information (essays, recommendations, research Ive done). Im really happy. Pitt was at the top of my list two months ago but my parents dont want me to go too far for school. Anyways, congrats to everyone else.
