What's good to double minor or double major in?

I'm a communications student with a minor in broadcasting. I want to either double major or double minor. I'm completely up to the challenge, and I really want to make the best out of my education and study as much as I can. I'd prefer to get into the production aspects of broadcasting/tv production. My absolute dream would be to become a screenwriter.

Any ideas on what I could double major or double minor in with communications/broadcasting? I'm open to anything!

You already have a good combo with communications and broadcasting. Why do you want to double major? (IMO, a formal double minor is not really worth much to anyone.) Are you trying to “hedge your bets” for a job after college?

Partially it’s that, mostly it’s simply because I want to. It’s just more of a thing I want to do for fun. I won’t be paying a lot at all for tuition, and if I have to stay an extra semester it wouldn’t be the end of the world. I know I could succeed if I tried this.

For a challenge, consider psychology, sociology, anthropology or philosophy. Philosophy in particular will develop your critical thinking skills.

Since you are posting on an Art and Design board, I might suggest something along the lines of Broadcasting Design and Motion Graphics, or Film and Television, easy enough.

However, since you state your absolute dream would be to be a screenwriter…well, the more you understand about the human condition (see preceding post), the better.

I’ve been looking into a few other minors, including creative writing, because my schedule would be set up perfectly to have room for another minor. The only problem is it looks like, based off the school’s schedules from this past year, that the classes aren’t offered every semester or every year :frowning: I guess I’ll just have to wait and see if these classes are offered again.

My school has more of your basic communication concentrations- it doesn’t have a specific film/TV program or anything that specific, unfortuntly :frowning:

Thanks for the suggestions!
