What's superfluous in Barron's? (Math II)

So, I've always heard that Barron's contains a lot of extraneous stuff. Which are the extraneous topics in the book? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

if you don't want the extraneous stuff, simply don't buy Barron's. Whats the point, when Princeton review will give you all the basics. The point of Barron's is to over prepare you. Don't use barron's if you don't want to learn the extra material.

Conics.
Most of the stuff beyond the basic formulas for knowing vertexs are useless.

Um....thats all I can remember lol!

Lol okay thanks!

You don't need to know the matrices stuff either, just the basics like adding and recognizing which ones can be multiplied together, if anything at all.

Don't I need to know determinants?

^Just plug it in your calculator? That's what I do..

I took Math II last year so I dont remember much but does anyone remember how much probability/permutation/combination stuff was on there?
And vectors? Polar coordinates/parametrics?
It's covered in Barrons at least..

Don't study too far into conics. After taking this subject test 3 times, I have only seen 1 question on conics, and it was a basic test on if you knew the equations or not. For matrices, all you need is to know how to work them on your calculator, no need to memorize how to cross multiply and all that complicated crap. Any thing that sounds super complicated in Barron's is probably unlikely to appear, and if so it won't be more than a question or so on the test. You're better off spending your time studying more popular subjects such as probabilities, permutations, basic algebra and trig rules, and series/sequences.

Right-o. Thanks!

Hmm thanks so much!!! I guess I'll review some more probability stuff..that tends to confuse the heck out of me haha

Barrons said it's 20% trig? I remembered a whole LOT of trig problems..more like 30%. What did you guys think?

study your trigs.
there is alot of trig.

but then you have a calculator.

good. I was kinda hoping so because that's all I've really studied so far!

haha thank goodness for the calculator.

We do a whole month and a half or so of trig down here in India so trig is cool. That combined with my trusty TI 83+ makes trig very cool :D
