Sorry guys, don't really know where else to post this =/

I'm a Minnesota resident. I was rejected admission to both the U of M and Madison, and I would like to transfer to one of those two schools after one or two years.
Knowing that I want to stay instate, I've been considering the publics in MN. As of now, I've been accepted to Mankato State, Winona State, and St. Cloud. I'm still waiting on UMD.

When it comes to these other in state publics, which one is the best? I can't find rankings, and for some reason I feel like Winona is the 2nd best public in the state. Is that correct? What IS the best other public?

University of Minnesota–Duluth

Winona State University

Bemidji State University

University of Minnesota–Morris

University of Minnesota–Crookston

Minnesota State University–Moorhead

St. Cloud State University

Minnesota State University–Mankato

Minnesota State University–Moorhead

UMD is the best of the bunch defiently, while winona is a good collge that is really growing. Bemidji U looks very vibrant if u haven’t seen it, and im sure anyone would like the feeling their. If you have an ACT of over 21, you are automatically accepted into the Minnesota State Universities (including Winona and Bemidji).

Hey sorry about the rejection, I’m in the same situation as you. Myself not being the smartest guy but can still get into some selective colleges. I myself is still waiting for the U of M.

The U of M Duluth is a gr8 school, it has a brilliant Chemical Engineering program and about 10,000+ students attending, like the perfect size.

Winona is less competitive, I got accepted instantly but it is rated one of the most friendliest, the campus is gr8.

The rankings Dwalker posted is about right, the UMD is the best of the bunch.

I’d said the UMD is the best choice, going there and transferring is a gr8 idea.

I would have to take exception to UMD being #1. I would vote for UMM and am very familiar with both. Of course it does depend on your major. UMD does have a lot more programs and is a lot bigger campus. Also, MSU is much better academically than St. Cloud State.

Congrats and yea, I would agree that Winona along with Duluth are the two next best in the state.

I know it’s probably too late, but you could also look at the other Wisconsin publics like La Crosse and Eau Claire which are also pretty good as well.

@ ^ 2 above, wow, i am terribly shocked. Firsr thing is i applied to winona, umd, and um-tc all at the same time and in 2 weeks i alrdy got accepted to winona and umd but recently got rejected from uc-tc.

im fairly surprised to say that both of u guys didn’t get in. BreakfastChampion, you should be fine and the U of Michigan is a gr8 school, spartans rule.

ImOnABoat, sorry about that, but I think you should try and apply to winona, its has about 8,000 students and a gr8 campus, the campus is plain awesome, if u visit you’ll really enjoy it.

@ jkaufman, UMMorris is a gr8 school but the problem is it has only 1,700 kids, an equivalent of a high school, not much students go there so it may be hard to find people u really know there and the location means very cold winters.

^Ok Mr. 15 posts, you obviously aren’t ready to be giving out advise on this site yet. Ever heard of a liberal arts college? UMM is one of the only public LAC’s and the small size is intentional, not because nobody wants to go there. It’s not the equivalent of a high school, it’s a college. There is a tighter community at a small school so it will be EASIER to make friends, not harder. The winters are cold all over Minnesota, I’ve lived here most of my life. And not “much” students go there?

I don’t know Brekfast - you seem to be hitting some really random bad luck with your apps - first I can’t believe that you didn’t get in to UM, but Duluth? Makes no sense with your stats.

did you forget to mention something - like maybe you killed a man with your bare hands or something to that effect?
