Letters of Recommendation -

My Academic Dean is writing a letter that I think will be "explosive" (in a good way).
My math teacher might have something good to say, considering I had one of the highest grades in Precalculus and Geometry.

Work experience:
- can't find a job these days

NOTE: I have an upward trend from my sophomore year to junior year. I'm afraid that my Freshman and Sophomore years were a little rocky, but my Junior Year I tried really hard, and I plan on doing well my Senior Year.

My Major: undecided at the moment

How can I let a college know that my first two years were not at the best of my ability?

What is/are the best school(s) that to which I can apply? I'm interested in MIT, CMU, Cornell, Princeton, and Georgia Tech, but I doubt they'd consider, and for that reason, I'm open to any college.

Also in the National Honor Society ^^

I have to be honest in saying that though you have had an upward trend(and I congratulate you on that), the schools that you have listed are high reaches:( It’s hard for me to suggest other colleges becuase I don’t know what some of your preferences would be. For example, How big(in terms of students) of a college are you wanted to go to? Do you want to stay within your state? What kind of student environment are you looking for? Does religion factor into your decision? etc. If you can specify on that, I’m sure we can help you find some alternatives:)

You might be able to get into CMU or GTech… the rest are reaches though. Perhaps consider some of the mid-range LACs?

Students, I don’t really want over 20,000 students, probably 1,000 - 10,000 students. My state is Florida, and I am considering Florida schools, but I want to apply to some out of state schools. Not sure about the student environment (I hate sports if that helps). I don’t mind going to a Catholic school as long as they don’t preach their beliefs to me.

Anyways, a bump.

Hmm…well you definately could get into Georgia Tech. I would say that is a lowish reach. CMU is probably a mid reach. Cornell is higher than that and Princeton is just a very high reach.

In order from selectiveness-
Georgia Tech
CMU
Cornell
Princeton

Virginia Tech should be an option for you.

I’m just going to bump it for the night, and I’ll check in the morning.

Chance me, and I’ll chance you. And be brutally honest.

Hey, noob. Try for MIT and CMU. You’d hate Georgia, I’d think.
(Little Newton noob), say hi to the family, including Dicey.
Apply to all for the hell of it.

Let’s see…the upward trend is very good, congrats, but unfortunately it still leaves you quite a bit short for MIT, Princeton and Cornell. I think your junior year improvement shows that you weren’t working to your full ability, but to show that’s the case, you really need a top SAT score for your reaches. I would try the ACT just to see how it goes. I would consider also applying to RIT and WPI. Good Luck!

^^ you probably made an account to ■■■■■ people

bump

I would absolutely recommend Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech you have great chances for acceptences to these schools!

Here are some colleges I think you should consider:
1)Florida State University
2)University of Central Florida
3)University of South Florida
4)Carnegie Mellon University
5)Georgia Institute of Technology
6)Illinois Institute of Technology
I chose the Florida colleges that matched your GPA and the others with consideration to size and GPA. Personally, I think that either 5 or 6 would match with your criteria. Instead of MIT you could apply to those. GIT-has an average GPA of~3.7, and about12,316 people. IIT-has an average GPA of~3.7, and about 2,479 people.
Good luck!

ok
i think u should try to stay in-state just because even if u get into a good school the chances of a full ride or half is slim and considering ur family income, it would be a strain and u and ur family would be stressed and u may not be able to focus on the work.

i just one of these:
[Top Florida Colleges and Universities](Top Florida Colleges and Universities)

u have a good chance of getting into any of these

Consider…drum roll please…Texas A&M!! As a safety of course. Youll get tons of money because youve got pretty good SAT scores, and its a very fun school! Im fairly certain youll get in. Try for Gerorgia Tech, but i hear that its a depressing place to be.

Thanks to everyone, and I know that out-of-state would be a strain, I’m just interested in if I get in, what scholarship could I receive.

More suggestions please.

bumpity bump bump

u have a pretty good shot of getting in anywhere (within reason of course) but gettin out of state scholarships is harder than in state because most schools offer more scholarships to their in state students

G Tech - Match
Rest - No

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/751644-chance-please-im-desperate-will-chance-back-right-away.html

Have you considered Rochester Institute of Technology? Its similar to the schools you’ve mentioned and would probably be a high match.

Chance me back?
