If you've never been before, what's the easiest form of transport from Logan airport to Harvard Square? Taxi or bus? How much does cost, and where do you go?

Take the T. That’s the subway, Red Line. Pretty easy, it takes you right to Harvard Square.

The best way is to take the Silver Line bus from the airport. It’s $2 each way, and you can pay on the bus or buy a ticket from machines in the terminal. The bus stops outside each terminal and says “SL1” on the front.

The bus will take you to South Station on the Red Line, where you would transfer (free) to the Red Line subway inbound toward Alewife. From there, it’s six stops to Harvard Square.

You can see more information at the T’s website: [MBTA.com > Official Website for Greater Boston’s Public Transportation System](http://www.mbta.com/)

You could take a taxi if you’re uncomfortable taking the T, but a taxi from Logan to Harvard will cost around $40. For a taxi, follow the terminal signs to ground transportation; they are always lined up waiting for customers.

Both responses are correct - the Silver Line is actually part of the “T”, though it’s a bus rather than a subway train. As Mollie says, for $2.00 (or $1.70 if you put money on the T’s reusable “Charlie Card,” it takes you to the subway, you transfer for free, and arrive right outside the campus gates a few minutes earlier and $38 richer than the folks who hailed a cab.

If you have lots of luggage, however, it might be wiser to take a cab.

I’ll second the use of the Silver Line. We did this back in July, with each person having a carry on bag plus a backpack. Surprisingly, the bus portion of the trip was rather “cozy” but we made do. Once we got to the subway portion of the trip, it was less crowded. BTW, this was all happening around 10:30 pm on a weekday evening after the 4th of July.

Learn to love public transportation in Boston! Coming from a small town in California, having the T couldn’t be nicer. A fair warning though, give yourself up to an hour to get from Harvard to the airport if you’re going the other way.

Well, you could take a taxi, but if you like the subway, you could catch the subway by the airport, and I believe you would go blue to orange to red and get off at Harvard Square. I looked it up for you, here is the link if you want:

It tells you lengths and stuff like that.

Oh, and by the way, enter Logan International Airport on the top and Harvard Square on the bottom and pick the top ones when the thing pops up.

Taking the Silver Line bus from the airport terminal is a faster way to get to anything on the Red Line than taking the Blue Line, not least because the Silver Line picks you up directly at the terminal, while you must take a shuttle bus to the Blue Line.

A taxi will run you $30-$45, fyi.
