What's the deal here....

For me, the website says that my application was complete on November 3rd. It has been four months without one single word back...

I called them up about two months ago, and asked them if my application was complete; in an aggravated tone, they said yes (a lot of people were probably asking the same questions).

I sent my representative an email, which he replied last Saturday with:

Good Evening Mr. (my last name),

Notification on Early Action files will go out this week. Please check your email for updates.

Regards,

(rep)

Seeing that there has been two snow days this week, I will bet that I won't hear anything this week either.

I know that I may seem to be complaining, but it has been 4 MONTHS without one, single reply. I do not want to jinx anything, but they didn't ask me for my semester grades, defer me, accept me to a regional campus, or anything at all. Just complete silence for 4 months. Kids at my school with SAT's ranging in the 1700's are being accepted, while I have a 2000 and still no response whatsoever....I really do not want to complain here, but I have been interested with Uconn since day one. I went on multiple tours, called and have been called to ask questions about the school, went to the open house, and I am instate. My dad even works at the heath center, and we have been living in CT for 10+ years....

I have been patient for 4 months... while it's obvious that they are accepting the really qualified kids first, it also seems like they are waiting for even more qualified kids to apply, and leaving the ballpark kids in the dust. It's hard to believe that most of the overqualified people at my school (instate) don't want to go to uconn because it's not only instate, but that we have grown up with it right next door; Uconn to them would be just like highschool (stupid, huh?). Me, on the other hand, would pay to go right now, but as I have been saying for the past 4 months...patience is a key virtue....

When the rep meant this week, I think it's just a generic response to everyone, seeing that they said they would reply in February. Do you think he actually means I will receive a response THIS week, or that he meant reply's to everyone are beginning to be sent out...

I really hear you! My app was complete in the first week of OCT!!! im OOS and am soooo frustrated! I can’t tell if Storrs is full or not yet but i just want to hear! im learning more and more how patience is a virtue! ha!

I really don’t want to complain because some kids have it worse than me, but this is getting ridiculous. Half of these really qualified applicants they are waiting for/accepting will not go here. In my smart group of friends, this is their safety net, nothing more.

One funny story is about my friend’s brother, who applied to only Princeton, Yale, and Harvard. His mom applied him to Uconn without telling him. Once he got rejected by all three, his only choice was Uconn, and he hated it. He graduated in 3 years/double majors. The point is, he was really smart, but he hated it there (probably because one of the favorite pastimes is partying). I would not be surprised if a lot of these really qualified applicants they love so much hate it there too, especially the mindset they have at my school (its in state, we grew up with it, its generic/talked about all the time, etc.)

Euro, I am sorry this is happening to you. My son applied as a safety last year and was accepted in 3 weeks. One of his friends waited and waited and waited and was finally accepted on the last day of notification! He was so POed he went to another school, even through UConn had been his first choice. Most of my son’s friends heard right away, but this poor kid was not informed until the last minute - no idea why, he had solid academic stats and stellar sports and leadership - weird.

Not sure your stats, do you consider yourself a candidate they might be on the fence about? I would recommend that you send a few items bringing attention to your file - maybe a letter discussing your extreme interest in the school (Keeping it positive) and perhaps telling them about a new activity or award.

Good luck and hope you hear good news very soon!

I didn’t hear anything from uconn for about 1 and a half months, not even an email acknowledging my application. The first I ever heard from them was an email and my acceptance letter the next day.

wow…yay uconn

and look at that; right when i posted, they made a decision and accepted me…

finally

In December you told me that my chances were not good. I was accepted to the business school a week later. I said that this was my safe school. I decided to go to Maryland at CP. I wish you luck.
