Or, rephrased, What would be the lowest score you WOULDN'T retake?

For me, I think 600. If it was much lower, I'd retake to show I knew the subject. If I got 600-650, I'd change subjects.

i retook a 740 IIC for an 800. If it was any other subject, I would have never retaken. For other subjects....700+ would be my limit. I'd probably try to get out of the 600's with a retake if it ever happened.

I'll be probably be retaking a 750 in math ii

mostly 700.
For math, 750.

I got 620 in Lit , and I'm not retaking!

No higher than a 690.

I retook a 680 in Biology-M and managed a 710, which I considered perfectly acceptable. I did not retake my 700 on Math II.

700, but if it's s ubject I KNOW I should be scoring higher, I'd retake it.

History or math, 760.

Anything else, probably 700.

730-740 probably.

790 - aim for perfection. That attitude has gotten me three 800s.

Foil -
That's great... but have you ever thought that colleges might look at you and say "they retook a 790 just for an 800? We don't want someone who is so obsessive about standardized testing. They obviously don't have a life."

Not that you don't, but I clearly remember an adcom telling me that retaking good scores to get perfect scores would be looked on unfavorably by colleges, even if the perfect score was achieved. And this adcom was from a HYPS college.

I'm retaking a 780 Math.

i agree with deter. 730-730 just to push it over the 750 threshold. but anything lower than 700 i would change subjects

sishu7: spending 1 hour of your life taking a test is not by any means obsession.

It's stupid Foil, that's what it is. Waste of money too.

750 if I know I could do better. Otherwise 700.

690.
I don't wanna waste my money to non-profit collegeboard

690.
Ditto reason.

Should s retake math IIC? He got a 780 (thats 41/50; 85 percentile). If he gets 2 more right, its an 800 (90th percentile). Also, he is signed up for an SAT retake in June which he's decided not to take. We can change it to a math retake and not eat all the registration money, but he thinks the 780 is fine. Thoughts??

i retook my math ii 760 to get an 800. im happy that i did and i think that 40 pts is a significant enough amount to justify a retake. i dont see how it could be a bad thing to get an 800, maybe just not as impressive as someone who got an 800 on the first try.
