I hate when people assume I think I’m really smart/better than others because I’m going to NYU. I dont think I’m dumb, but I dont assume myself to be more intelligent than anyone else.

vanderbilt: “oh that’s a great school…where is that again?”
“how do you like ohio?”
“so you must be really smart”
“what made you go all the way out there”
“oh so you must be rich (false)”

“Oh, so now you’re going to be all snobbish, eh?”
“Oh, you must be so smart!” –> this illusion is dispelled after 5 minutes or so
“Jesus! Won’t it be hard for you all the way out there? Do they even have black people on campus?”
“Didja get a scholarship?”
“I think it’s dangerous to have a roommate.”
“They have such awful grade inflation. You should have gone to a school with more rigorous grading.” [this came from a Cornell grad :)]

These aren’t things people actually say about Harvard, but these comments always comes up in college-related conversation. It’s really annoying.

Chapel Hill:
“Oh, but that’s so easy to get into! Surely you could’ve gotten into UofX (usually their school)”
“…Where’s that, now?”
“Oh wow, is that the one by the beach? We used to vacation there and it’s simply beautiful! You’ll have so much fun there wink”
