What's the point of art/health, etc.

I hated taking health it was a waste of time, but I still made the best of it and got a 95. I had to take Art for 1 semester, freshman and sophmore year, freshman year there was an actual point to it because it was art history. Sophmore year was horrible, because we actually had to do art, and my art teacher is a perfectionist and doesn't have a very good taste in art. Anyway, I got a 76 overrall in art for sophmore year = no national honor society or french national honor society b/c we have to have an unweighted average of 90 and no grades below 80. Same for FNHS except no grades below 85.

I actually think art should be taught more in school; too often, it's just a free period where you scribble on some crappy printer paper with Crayola pastels. A lot of people have no appreciation for art, for how much work and inspiration it takes to create a work of art...I take AP studio art and get told that it's "not a real class" as if it's any less legitimate than other classes.

A lot of people at our high school take the independent study high school health class offered through the University of Indiana. Our state requires that high school students take health. (We are not from Indiana - it's just a convenient way to get a high school class done.)
