What's your favorite ivy and why?

The con about Dartmouth is that it has a very cold weather throughout the year. It might be the only thing, which may bother some of us from attending even if it’s emminent for a 6th place Ivy League.

Oh yes, the cold isn’t good :/

Being from Texas, the 9+ inches we got a few weeks ago was enough :stuck_out_tongue: i love skiing, but the outsides being cold 24/7 several months a year doesn’t sit well with me. That’s a reason I’m looking at Stanford and emory… warmth! hehe

Ivy from Soul Calibur

By far Yale- pretty campus, residential colleges, small city, and just the right distance from home.

Cornell because of Andy Bernard.

spanishpotatoes: best post on this thread

^^You win at life.

who is andy bernard?

^Character from The Office (US) who went to Cornell (and was in an a capella group there). He talks about it a good amount. Or other characters bring it up.

hahah best quote

Andy Bernard: “When I was in college I used to get wicked hammered. My nickname was puke. I would chug a fifth of socos, sneak into a frat party, polish off a few people’s empties, some brewskies, some Jell-O shots, do some body shots off myself, pass out, wake up the next morning, puke, rally, more soco, head to class. Probably would have gotten expelled if I had let it affect my grades, but I aced all my courses. They called me Ace. It was totally awesome. Got straight B’s. They called me Buzz.”

If I went to Cornell I’d stand in any random room and wonder, wow, maybe my favorite fictional character fictionally stood here as well. That would just move me.

Harvard, because it brings back old memories.

of what?
10char.

Brown: I go here. But what I really love is the laid back student body, the really awesome area around campus with lots to do, and a great balance of a solid party scene with an intellectual student body. I love the feel of Brown, in my opinion its a really balanced place.

Dartmouth: Also super chill. Probably more community oriented than Brown (which is a huge plus for me). Great social scene and a great community environment. A little more crazy than Brown (I had so much fun when I visited) which is awesome. Also my friends here love the academics.

Not so into:

Columbia: I visited my friend for almost 3 days a couple months ago on a road trip. The social scene seemed really weak (the bars were dingy and not much happening on campus). I didn’t get the “college” feel. Also the students I met seemed either awkward or super intense/ pretentious.

Penn: Seems like too many long-island types here (i.e.obnoxious). I haven’t spent time at Penn, but I’ve heard this over and over. I think its too big for me as well. Also the surrounding area isn’t beautiful and catered to college students the way east providence caters to Brown students.

Only ones worth applying to: Harvard, Princeton

I probably would’ve chosen Princeton over Harvard, but I can’t remember why. In hindsight, I think I’m better off not going to either.

My favorite would have to be Cornell, for real reasons. Th first and most important is just that I felt really comfortable on campus, it’s a school that just gives me “that” feel. The kids there just seemed a lot more chill than other ivies…a lot of them just seemed like that kind of kids that just did what they liked and it worked for them as opposed to kids whose entire high school career was about getting into a certain school. They have a good history dept. The hockey there is AMAZING. There is no better place to watch a hockey game than Lynah Rink. Not to mention, Ithaca is gorges :)

But to be honest, the only one I don’t like at all and don’t think I would be happy at is Harvard. They all have some nice aspects that I like.

Cornell, cuz I’m going there :)

I like poison ivy…and UPenn (in case it wasn’t obvious from my username)

hmm, I guess we all have different reasons. After more posts, I’ll make a master list of reasons.

Princeton–> Elitist Tradition :D
