What's your favorite movie?

I love LotR, but I’ve never understood why people like like the third one the best. It was great, but the ending went on forever.

Lawl, I hated that movie. The cat was the only character I felt any sympathy for.

I’m not really sure why I like the third one the best, I just do  I feel like it was more emotional than the other two.

For me it goes third, first, second. I love all of them though.

On the contrary, the ending was very rushed and skipped about 95% of the book’s ending.

Toy Story 3

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King

Runner ups:

Inception
Forrest Gump
Up in the Air
The Social Network

It skipped the entire Battle of the Shire arc. They took the easy way out and killed off Saruman after the siege of Isengard.

Can you blame them considering how long the movie already was xD I do kind of wish they had shown the Saruman governing the Shire and then the rebellion that unseated him though. Its understandable that they left that part out though because it would have taken up too much time.

I think the movie was exceptionally executed, even without including the last battle against Saruman. What really upset me was the lack of any Tom Bombadil in the movies :(.

The book’s ending had stuff in it -the Saruman/Wormtongue plot line, the Shire etc. The movie cut most of this out, so we have a million goodbye scenes and nothing else.

Idk, perhaps it wasn’t so bad the the non-extended version.

^^I agree, I liked Tom Bombadil D:

^I liked the goodbye scenes because they were so emotional, especially the when Gandalf and Frodo depart to the Grey Havens. That scene still makes me tear up.

I’d have watched the 8-hour full and complete version. But yeah, I completely understand why they did it. I just wanted to remind those who complain about the long ending of the movie that in the book you still have 6 chapters, or nearly a third of The Return of the King, after the ring is destroyed.

Let’s just accept that the movies are incredibly awesome, but also that the books are unfathomably better than the movies are.

Yeah, the movie made the entire plot central to destroying the ring. Once that was accomplished, they had to wrap everything up. They missed out on the entire return journey, which was in many ways just as profound as the rest of the series.

Still, the movies are freaking amazing. Peter Jackson sure did the series justice. What a visionary. I’m so glad he’s back on board for the Hobbit.

As always  LOTR is the closest the movies have ever come to being as good as the books for me though. And yes, I can’t wait until the Hobbit comes out!

Lawl, ever heard of The Godfather?

But that is true in this case.

Speaking of which, did anyone else besides me experience a feeling of “wait, what?” after watching The Voyage of the Dawn Treader? It was a chaotic sequence of scenes with no story development whatsoever. I can’t imagine trying to understand it without having read the book.

I’ll be interesting to see it. I sure hope they manage to get it right, it’s not like the Trilogy…

^^Lol, I never even knew that The Godfather was based off a book.

Quite a discussion o.o Just wanted to say Merry Christmas to everyone or Happy Holidays which ever you prefer and btw The Polar Express is one of my favorite holiday movies (watched it recently). ^_^
